Thanks for the post jr. In another life (BC - before children)I dabbled in art. This sounds great. Who says there is nothing to do in Toledo!

I have dabbled in art BC and AC.
Much of the AC art, though, involved wall drawings, spray-painted tennis shoes, and kids using finger paint on each other.
My favorite - and probably the only time in the English language this sentence has been used - was captured in this exasperated response:
"Stop coloring the the piano keys!!!!!"

I got kicked out of art class in the 8th grade. Spent the last half of that year in the school's cramped, dingy supply room.
I dabbled in art when I was in early grade school. At my parent's house, I tossed a slice of American Cheese onto the ceiling for no other reason than to see if it would stick. It stuck alright. It didn't peel off nice and neat. It broke off in tiny pieces, and it left a square stain on the ceiling.
Now if I would do that today as "mature" adult, I could probably get a federal grant to take my ceiling cheese art on tour. But my Mom didn't recognize my artistic ability so many years ago. Let me tell you, I didn't get one of those "modern day" punishments like a timeout or having my Lincoln Logs taken away from me for a day.
After living in Toledo for several years and having friends who are either artists or fans of the arts, I'm now a big fan of the arts too. This weekend's art show is a must-see, in my opinion. And about the only real creative thing I've done was submitting a short story last year to the Toledo City Paper's poety and fiction contest. It was selected the winner and printed in their paper.
