Music
Elevator Music - Musicians from the Toledo Symphony are joined by friends from throughout the region in a celebration of vibrant and wacky music from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Performers include violinists Merwin Siu and David Dyer, cellist Robert Clemens, cellist Shelbi Wagner, clarinetists Georg Klaas and Jocelyn Langworthy, poet/vocalist Christina Sarich, and harpist Christina Muntz.

9:00 pm - 10:30 pm
The Antivillains
Music - indie-jazz pop-rock
The former band Drive!! in its new guise, the Antivillains, playing indie-jazz pop-rock. With smooth and subtle psych undertones, oft-melancholy melodies, and jammin' pop hooks, the sweet sounds of these implied musical super heroes are irresistible and nearly impossible not to like. The Antivillains are a local, loveable, musical must see. They are Sarah Cohen lead vox/acoustic guitar, Benny Cohen alternate lead vox/lead guitar/rhodes/synth, Sammy W kit/vox and Benny B spicey guitar/vox Matthew bass.

10:00 pm - 11:30 pm
BenFlowz & Friends
Music - DJ
Benjamin Rush AKA BenFlowz & Friends perform conscious, underground, elevated hip-hop, funk, soul, and R&B music. An integral part of the Midwest underground movement, DraMatique & BenFlowz strive for continued excellence in the field of hip-hop music. As gifted emcess on the underground circuit, they hope to enlighten and enhance the minds of the masses with original concepts and unsurpassable lyricism. Two very distinct musical entities in their own right, their creative union further strengthens their positions as pioneers of the contemporary hip-hop movement. With a smooth, confident delivery, infectious wordplay/lyricism, as well as production from both ³in-house² DreamScheme Productions (BenFlowz & Rob Cypher) and from across the country, D & B continue to showcase their talents as aspiring hip-hop artists in the new millennium.

10:30 pm -12:00 am

Hosted by Monique Ward, Jerry Gray and Christina Sarich, this explosion of local talent will encompass an all-out party with rappers, dancers, deejays, emcees, live graffiti art, hip-hoppers, spoken word, and a few surprises. Thanks for posting this.

For a little background on the event, please read the "background" page on artomatic419.org, the City Paper article linked above by JR or the story by the Blade here.

Artomatic 419 is 100% volunteer-driven and FREE to the public. The Arts Commission of Greater Toledo, Kick Start Toledo and a steering committee comprised of local creatives, arts administrators and community activists have been working/planning/coordinating this event for well-over a year.

I'd also like to mention the building, 22,000 sq. ft., was donated for use by Manos Greek Restaruant, and there will be a beer garden for adults run by Pub St. George during the Saturdays.

There are difference performances each Saturday, so check the calendars on our site.

Saturday the 16th is the 4th Meet & Greet event, with shuttle busses going from Artomatic 419, Leslie Adams Gallery, Paula Brown Gallery and Space 237.

Our first Saturday was a great success (regardless of the weather). Thanks to the over a thousand visitors who came out to this FREE event!!!

We have 3 more Saturday's full of new and exciting events.

If you are interested in helping spread the word...

This weekend is the Black Swamp Arts Festival in Bowling Green. I think this is a great opportunity to promote down there, as well as continuing our efforts here in Toledo.

A PDF is available for download here. If any of you have access to a black & white printer feel free to print some out and drop-off at the Arts Commission office, area events or around your neighborhood.

Thanks in advance.

She can email me at gbutiri@yahoo.com
