Artomatic 419 back for 2007 -- Call for Proposals - Back by popular demand! Artomatic 419 presents "Artomatic 419 Lite" this September 2007! September 13-16 will be a long weekend of arts, filled with workshops, Meet & Greet 6 with gallery bus loop, artist studio tours, and a two-day "Artomatic 419 lite".

Don't worry, the huge, free-for-all art explosion that is Artomatic 419 hasn't gone anywhere, it's just in hiatus until 2008. In the meantime, we wanted to create a cool art experience that worked some different art muscles so we've created Artomatic 419 Lite, to be held this September 15 and 16 at Fort Industry Square.

It will be a two-day show of the best visual and performing arts that the Toledo area has to offer, with participants drawn from the coolest proposals we receive this summer. It will be, in effect, an entire building curated as an art show, offering an outlet for ideas that have been building in the minds of local artists. We are hoping to present multimedia work, performance and visual work, music, dance, painting, poetry, photography and theater.

Nothing is too wild to be considered, as long as its content is family friendly. Our aim is to produce an event that builds a larger audience for the arts as well as providing a backdrop and forum for continuing to build the Toledo arts community.

Any places to take cost-friendly Art classes? I looked into the courses at the Art museum, but they were kinda high and almost all of the "adult" courses are basically dealing with glass blowing. Cool but not what I'd like to do.

I'd like to learn how to make paper and homemade inks from raw materials. Aside from the "tear up paper, soak in water and form" trick, I haven't even been able to find a book or online howto for old fashion wood pulp paper. I did find some ink recipes but a lot required chemicals you can't find easily.

I'm also into photography and been trying to make a mosaic of Toledo. Anyone recommend a quality printer for poster sized images?

Another fun activity, I use to do in college, is throw clay. Any places around Toledo where you can pay a flat fee for access and $x per pound for clay, or something like that?

Art in all it's forms definitely adds some spice to life.

Will ask around on your other questions... but as far as printing goes, I've been able to get great archival-quality prints from SFC -- http://sfcgraphics.com/
