Governor Strickland Visits Toledo on Tuesday, April 23 at 4:30 p.m. at Mayores Senior Center (on South Ave. East of Anthony Wayne Trail) for Town Hall Meeting - Governor Strickland will visit Toledo on Tuesday, April 23 at 4:30 p.m. at Mayores Senior Center (on South Ave. East of Anthony Wayne Trail) for Town Hall Meeting. The focus of the town hall meeting will be on whether or not the state should expand the Homestead Tax Exemption Program so more seniors can save money on their property taxes.
Among other senior topics, another topic that is likely to come up is discussion of the expansion of Medicaid managed care to low-income seniors who have Medicaid and Medicare. The PASSPORT Medicad-waiver home care program is currently exempt from Medicaid managed care and many senior advocates should be exempt in the state's proposed budget. The care for individuals on PASSPORT is already managed. This action impacts over 28,000 clients; over 1,300 employees and hundreds of service providers. Persons who want to have the Governor hear his/her voice about aging issues are encouraged to attend.

So he unveils a plan where every senior and disabled person in ohio would pay zero taxes for the first $25000 in income they pay per year.
Sounds great. Who's gonna make up the difference? By the criteria that Strickland is using, 'senior and/or disabled' constitutes 25% of our population??
Im all for giving seniors and disabled a break, but it still makes one wonder...
I mean, if nationally they want to continue to stick it to the rich that's one thing, but if they do so in ohio, they can up and move to a different state.
25% is a huge number.
