Why just Toledo & Northwest Ohio? Why not the whole Lake Erie West Region? (Glance up at the masthead).
The sooner we stop living in NW Ohio/SE MIchigan, and start living in the Lake Erie West Region, the sooner Toledo will start growing like San Jose in Silicon Valley.

doToledo.org/Toledo Visitors and Convention Bureau has a similar function in their Events section:

There is also www.upcoming.org which lets anyone add events and search for whatever region they like in the country. It is specifically an events website not tied to specific organization. I have been trying to get people to use it around here with little luck.
To get an idea of the potential check the San Francisco area or Ann Arbor on there. A great site too if you are traveling somewhere.

"I have been trying to get people to use it around here with little luck."
Yeah, I understand. Toledo always seems a bit behind in adopting things like this. But then again, I've only used Upcoming sparingly in the past.
Check out the right side of community site Arbor Update under "Local Events" to see how they embed the events feed from Upcoming.org for Ann Arbor area happenings.
My only problem is the RSS feed from Upcoming is not in calendar order but, apparently, in the order the event was submitted. That's fine for a blog posting, but I don't want to see September events above a July event that's this weekend.
Maybe I'm missing something with Upcoming, but I haven't been able to figure out how to get the feed in event schedule order except to do the sorting within my own script. But I do plan to make more use of Upcomging in the future.
Yahoo! bought Upcoming about two years ago. So in order to use Upcoming, you need a Yahoo! account, just like with flickr now too. This is no big deal to me, since I've had a Yahoo! account for many years, but it might bother some, I guess.
Here's the Toledo events page at Upcoming. You'll notice that the events on the Web page are displayed in what I would call appropriate order. Today's events are at the top, followed by tomorrow's, then Sunday's, and so on.
But now click on the RSS feed next to "Subscribe", and you'll see the feed is not in this same calendar order. It's in pubDate order. It's not the end of the world with their RSS feed. I can sort the events by the XML tag xCal:dtstart.

There may be a way using Yahoo Pipes to sort the events and then use that feed. I haven't really taken the time to give it a try yet so I am only speculating. ;)
