Carty kicked off the air (?) - 13ABC apparently has given Carty the boot, at least for a while:
When Diane asked for a date on his decision to run for mayor, Carty said we could expect to find out sometime in June. Carty says that whatever he decides, he doesn't want to second guess himself for the next four years. Today the management of 13ABC announced that Carty's on-air duties will end next Monday until he decides whether he's going to run for mayor. Carty's last program will air Sunday morning and his final commentary will be on Monday.

Well, it was bound to happen.
The smart thing would be for Carty to give a mayoral run a pass and go back to working the WTVG-13 gig.
There, he can exert credible pressure and influence while leaving "fond" memories in the minds of most of the Toledo voters and his viewing public.
(And, someone else gets to clean up the financial mess that Carty left JFo with, plus JFo's own mess.)
I don't envy anyone that gets stuck being mayor in 2006...

Are the May sweeps over?
May 15 column by Blade columnist Roberta deBoer:
"But, c'mon, Carty. Enough already! By now, it's grown quasi-boring, giving odds on Carty's future course of action."
"Yeah, I know, I know: it's May sweeps, that springtime ratings period when local TV stations do everything to capture audience attention short of dropping bricks on viewers' heads. Carty couldn't possibly bail out now on WTVG, Ch. 13, his part-time employer (and, I should add in the interest of full disclosure, mine, too)."
"He's long overdue to drop the coy gambit. It's time for him to put forth his ideas, so we have opportunity enough to let real debate take place among Carty and Mayor Jack Ford and Republican challenger Rob Ludeman."

jr,
Yeah, but there's still that $16 million hole that Carty stuck JFo with. And JFo has been doing some of his own digging, to deepen that hole.
And, (no offense to Rob), but why would anybody in his right mind, who has had two full terms already, and is idolized by some members of this community and may fancy himself as a "god among men... "
Never mind. I think I just answered my own qusetion ;-)
I have just got to stop talking to myself like this...
