Regional or Uni-Gov information help - I have a distant memory of something I once saw on TV that, I believe, was related to what we would now call Regional Government or, maybe Unigov.

The gentleman in question, possibly a professor or an Economist, was championing 10 regions or “states,” to replace our current 50 states.

His theory, as I remember it, was that these states or regions should be made of and grouped by their common interests rather than the old geographical lines/boundaries.

He may have either written a paper or a book on the subject.

Does this ring a bell with anyone out there?

I’m sorry for the lack of useful information. I can’t even supply the type of show, the name of any participants, or even the decade I saw it. All searches to date have been fruitless, yet I continue…

Drawing a blank, but I'll dig into it. Must be an academic; this sounds too theoretical to be from anyone else.

Mike,
That is what I was thinking too.

Remaking 50 states into just 10; certainly wasn't a politician ;-)

The only thing I can think of is the organization of the Great Lakes States. I do know that periodically, the governors of those states that border on any of the five Great Lakes get together to discuss future policy affecting the Great Lakes. There may be ten of those.
