Karl Rove threatens to blacklist any Republican who votes against Bush over wiretapping - Congressional sources said Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove has threatened to blacklist any Republican who votes against the president. The sources said the blacklist would mean a halt in any White House political or financial support of senators running for re-election in November.
"It's hardball all the way," a senior GOP congressional aide said.
The sources said the administration has been alarmed over the damage that could result from the Senate hearings, which began on Monday, Feb. 6. They said the defection of even a handful of Republican committee members could result in a determination that the president violated the 1978 Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. Such a determination could lead to impeachment proceedings.
Over the last few weeks, Mr. Rove has been calling in virtually every Republican on the Senate committee as well as the leadership in Congress. The sources said Mr. Rove's message has been that a vote against Mr. Bush would destroy GOP prospects in congressional elections.
"He's [Rove] lining them up one by one," another congressional source said.
Mr. Rove is leading the White House campaign to help the GOP in November’s congressional elections. The sources said the White House has offered to help loyalists with money and free publicity, such as appearances and photo-ops with the president.
Those deemed disloyal to Mr. Rove would appear on his blacklist. The sources said dozens of GOP members in the House and Senate are on that list.

I NEVER thought I'd be HAPPY that they didn't kick Rove out of the WH and jail him for leaking Plame.
This is sure to tick off a lot of GOP members.
By the way, anyone who claims Insight Magazine is a liberal publication need only look at what they link to... Drudge, Michelle Malkin, and Breitbart... as well as that ultraliberal Washington Times.
Oh, and this also shows that BushCo is scared poopless about impeachment, since it seems they have to resort to these tactics to keeping their own party from impeaching them.
I hope there are Republicans in Congress with a spine and principles enough to fly the US Flag over the GOP elephant. If they knuckle under to Rove, they're even bigger spineless wimps than the entire Democratic party.

"We cannot defend freedom abroad by deserting it at home."
Edward R. Murrow
And once again a Republican ROVE has advocated blacklists, not since the days of Senator Joe McCarthy (R-WI) have we seen such a disregard to personal freedom and belief. When G.W. Bush said he would faithfully uphold the Constitution, did he even bother to read it. I don't ever remember (civics class) where either Jefferson or Madison ever advocated blacklists. But then again this is a different era, one of supression of Freedom.

To him, it's a goddamn piece of paper:

I really really hope the complete story of his actions and the actions of his VP and underlings comes out. I could only hope that the Real Republicans finally rid themselves of the evil corrupt neocon wing of their party.

Karl Rove playing dirty? Oh no! Say it ain't so, Joe [McCarthy].
Rove acts and sounds like such a hard-ass but I'm wagering that, during the Vietnam War, 'he had better things to do.'
Why is it that guys like Rove and Cheney, who look like tax accountants, need to act tough? Is it precicely because they look like such wimps that they need to act aggressively, talk tough?
I've always wondered about that connection between dumpy-looking men or puny men and their need to talk tough. Rush comes to mind as well as Norquist. Do these minature Macy's Day balloons feel it necessary to distract from their amorphous shaped-bodies by using their tongues as swords?

The Republicans have tolerated Rove and the rest of the Neo-Con Cabal, and it should be little surprise that harboring such untamed attack dogs may result in injuries to the handlers.
Of course, I'm reminded of Carville. Dems do it too. Rove is all about the use of power, not Conservatism or any other such effete ideological -Ism.

Where the hell have you been, AC?
I believe he was on a fact-finding trip to Scotland, Indonesia, and Bali, paid for through the generosity of a gift from Ken Lay, Tom DeLay, and Jack Abramoff.

Where the hell have you been, AC?
In the figurative sense or the literal?
