Regionalism Smegionalism... What's REALLY going on? - I'm becoming more and more suspicious of "regionalism" if only for the fact that the doughnut economy still seems to be in place in Graeter Toledo and growing and it's even more awkward in that the Port Authority promotes Wood County projects for gratis, as far as I can tell. Wood "Honest To God We Really Called Something In Windswept, Treflan-Laden Perrysburg Township ‘The Golden Triangle’" County is not obligated to pay the Port Authority a nickel. But they sure get their attention.
I don't know what anyone's intention is. I'm a product-oriented person. I look at results. And in Toledo, the results thus far stink. They stink because of the use of "Jakeways" (a "Jakeway" is a unit of measure that represents 500 bogus 'jobs.' Jakeways are usually inserted in hopelessly glowing and Potemkin-ish annual reports prepared by local economic development agencies.) to mollify the suspicious; the ThinkSpeak labeling of the “Growth Partnership” (as if);… and the general incestuous in-bred way Toledo’s good ol’ boys still pass around the pork. When Toledo was booming just before the Depression Toledo’s Captains of Industry were making money in spite of their talents. Ever since 1929 Toledo has been stuck in a malaise of gross mismanagement and pig headed pursuit of “the way it used to be.” Post-Great Depression Toledo proved that the mass polluting, cheap labor, cheap raw material way of growing an economy were passé.’ But Toledo just would not let go. It clung, like the “Face Hugger” in Ridley Scott’s “Alien” to the slogging, just plain stupid and shopworn notion that glass, Jeeps and soft coal would propel Toledo back into the economic stratosphere. In reality Toledo has never gotten back in the game. Now the myriad economic development councils, agencies and departments shuffle their creaky, splintered and fading deck chairs around and hand juicy speak-no-evil consulting contracts and pointless phony-baloney hundred grand jobs to each other in some cosmic Black Swamp economic development circle jerk.

Fascinating. Too bad "I'm" didn't have a better name than "Guest". Anonymous posting.
Regionalism
" ... a "Jakeway" is a unit of measure that represents 500 bogus 'jobs.' "
How about that. I learned something today.
