Ron Paul Warns of Government-Staged Terror Attack - Ron Paul, GOP presidential candidate, says that he wouldn't rule out the current administration staging a terror attack to boost its sagging support of the Iraq War.
According to the article on politico.com:
During the radio interview, Paul said the government was conducting "an orchestrated effort to blame the Iranians for everything that has gone wrong in Iraq."
I've noticed that as well. Further, the White House spokesperson, Joe Lieberman,in his whiny, nasal voice, continually warns us of those 'terrible Iranians' He and CNN's Wolf Blitzer seem to have their own sideshow every few days, giving Lieberman free air time to scare the dickens out of the American citizens.
Who would doubt that Cheney and Rove would concoct such a 'Gulf of Tonkin' incident to bolster their imperial cabal? Seems quite natural to me after watching these thugs for the past 6 years.

It is unfortunate Darkseid, but there have been numerous instances where our fine, fine government {and I say that with the utmost disrespect} has been exposed to have done some terrible and malicious things to further their agenda.
'Trail of Tears', Wounded Knee, Ruby Ridge, Waco, the LSD 'research' of the 60's & 70's, to name a few that come to this half awake, caffeine starved brain.
The problem I have is this: The government says they are picking up more and more 'traffic' concerning potential strikes - and they make it 'common knowledge' - for all to know.
Now, to me, this is akin to coming out and telling the terrorists "You guys are using the wrong forms of communication, 'cause we can hear you talk about it. You better change your style of communication so we can't hear you!"
Shouldn't surveillance be done with a bit of secrecy?
Or is this being done to 'prepare' us for the next strike and the resulting (continual) erosion of our rights?
Call me a 'Conspiracy Theorist', but I think Paul hit the nail on the head here. I certainly wouldn't put it past our government to 'drum up' some charges or manufacture 'skeletons in his closet' to discredit him.
Or worse!

Really? I ought to take a closer look at what I posted:
Let's see here: Ron Paul (R) suggests that President Bush (R) is up to no good.
Well, yes, I AM guilty of 'picking on' those with an "R" after their name.
Thank you for pointing out the one-sidedness and I stand corrected. Thanks for helping me see the foolishness and narrowness of my post.

PSSSST!! NEWSFLASH, MUCK!! RON PAUL IS A LIBERTARIAN WHO SWITCHED to repugnant earlier THIS YEAR in order to be taken seriously (as seriously as his bid can be taken). But I have a feeling you already knew that. Boy, no one will be any more glad than I am when Bush and Cheney are gone.

Actually, this is the second time he's ran for prez:
[edit] 1988 presidential campaign
In the 1988 presidential election, despite having no previous affiliation with the Libertarian Party, Paul won that party's nomination for the U.S. Presidency. Appearing on the ballot in 46 states and the District of Columbia,[41] he placed third in the popular vote (with 431,750 votes - 0.47%), behind Republican George H. W. Bush and Democrat Michael Dukakis.[42] Although he had been an early supporter of Ronald Reagan, Paul was critical of the unprecedented deficits incurred by Reagan's administration, for which his opponent George H.W. Bush had been vice-president.[37]
Paul said that he was doing more during his presidential run than reach office: he was trying to spread his liberty-minded ideas and would often talk to school groups that weren't old enough to vote. "We're just as interested in the future generation as this election. These kids will vote eventually, and maybe, just maybe, they'll go home and talk to their parents."[41]
During his time as a Libertarian candidate, Paul gained supporters nationwide who agreed with him on many of his positions—on gun rights, fiscal conservatism, home-schooling, right-to-lifers, and others who thought the federal government was heading in the wrong direction. These supporters formed a nationwide support base that encouraged him to return to office and supported his campaigns financially.[11]
After the election, Paul had a coin business[43] and worked at his own think tank until returning to Congress.[43]

darkseid, if you think dr paul just conveniently switched to the republican party, you are wrong. since you were able to pull up his bio, you should have seen the part about his return to congress. you seem to have very selective "copy and paste".

I don't buy it.
Bush doesn't care what the American public thinks about Iraq so why would he stage an attack to foster support?
Now the libertarian wackiness starts to show itself in Ron Paul. That was quick. I wonder when he will announce that a Cuban hit squad is out to get him.

Bush just had his "war talk" with the primary school kids, and things went swimmingly!
"George W Bush goes to a primary school to talk about the war. After his talk he offers question time. One little boy puts up his hand, and the President asks him his name. 'Billy!' 'And what is your question, Billy?' 'I have three questions: First - why did the USA invade Iraq without the support of the UN?; Second - why are you President when Al Gore got more votes?; and Third - whatever happened to Osama Bin Laden?'
Just then the bell rings for recess.
George W. Bush informs the kiddies that they will continue after recess.
When they resumed, the President says,
'Okay where were we? Oh that's right - question time. Who has a question?' A different little boy puts his hand, George points him out and ask his name. 'Steve!' 'And what is your question, Steve?' 'I have five questions: First - why did the USA invade Iraq without the support of the UN?; Second - why are you President when Al Gore got more votes?; Third - whatever happened to Osama Bin Laden?; Fourth - why did the recess bell go 20 minutes early?; and Fifth - what happened to Billy?'"
So, not to worry o.k.?

Call me equally nutty, Dan, but but the "support" being sought is not from the people. Bush and the "Imperial Cabal" (nice phrase, that) only require complacency from the people. The actual support needs to come from the only people who can stop the President/Emperor: the US Congress.

Same morons who think 9-11 was all a staged, inside job. They're so whacko it's not worth even addressing them.

The only thing wackier than believing something isn't right in Washington D.C. land, is to blindly believe there was no need for any truly independent investigation of 9-11, to blindly believe George Bush as he leads our country over a financial cliff. To blindly believe there was no need for any doubt of Dick Cheney's "steady as she goes, fatherly guidance" of American policy. There was never any need to doubt the word of George Bush now or ever. There is no further need for exercise of those rights outlined in the Constitution now that President Cheney and Vice- President Bush have our best interests in mind. "Steady as she goes Dick!" There was absolutely no need to question anything anymore, now that the two supreme leaders have decided what is best for us all!
P.S. Don't waste your precious time addressing “wacko’s with questions.” You just answered your own statement. There, it's settled then. Don't bother to watch how steel framed buildings fall at almost free fall speeds directly into their own footprints. It hasn't happened before, since, and will never happen again, just on that one day. I won't waste my time here either. I'll use and capitally exploit the world as it is today for personal gain! By golly, that's what I admire so much about Dick and the whole gang, over in Washington D.C.! I personally believe that the “real morons” are those who would never question anything, and blindly accept whatever they are told.

I believe in acting in our own national best interests. I have one question. If you felt like answering any question that is? Just what exactly have we gotten out of the Iraq War that is of lasting benefit to the average person in the United States?
Here’s a story with Ron Paul in it. Take it for whatever relevance it may have to this discussion.

I'm in agreement that our nation is right now in a constitutional crisis and if action is not taken to stop the Executive Branch from its self-imposed 'executive privilege,' then we are washed up as a republic.
The Bush/Cheney cabal has trampled the Constitution and scoffed at anyone who would dare question their 'authority' over the other two branches.
Anybody who isn't queasy in the stomach about this clear and present danger to our nation hasn't been paying attention.

Ron Paul's platform still continues to insist that the Bush Cabal is still the best motivator for terrorist behavior in this age, since the foreign policy is very explicit about conducting war upon 911-innocent Arab and Persian nations. In fact, on the blog listed, there is a comment that states that Rep Paul's position in the audio clip (which I can't hear on my dialup line -- too slow) is just that position.
I encourage people to listen to Rep Paul himself, since there is an active campaign by the Conservatives to assassinate his character. The last thing the national Cons want is a man who explicitly refers to the US Constitution in order to ascertain how the government is restricted.

I'm not defending or rejecting Paul himself, I'm merely saying that regardless of what anyone says,or what he calls himself, he is a LIBERTARIAN who runs AS A REPUG because he knows you CAN'T GET ELECTED (in his district, anyway)with an "L" after your name.
This has been stated and discussed on many political talk shows. Personally, I liked the guy at first, but the more he talks goofy shit like this, the more he sounds like Perot or the Elf (Kookcinich).

Jul 17, 2007 USA Today article titled Report: Al-Qaeda may use Iraqi network to attack U.S.. Looks like the GOP has its campaign platform ready for the next couple election cycles.
"The report lays out a range of dangers — from al-Qaeda to Lebanese Hezbollah to non-Muslim radical groups — that pose a "persistent and evolving threat" to the country over the next three years. As expected, however, the findings focus most of their attention on the gravest terror problem: Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda network. The report makes clear that al-Qaeda in Iraq, which has not yet posed a direct threat to U.S. soil, could become a problem here."
But don't worry, Homeland Security bozo Michael Chertoff is protecting us with his gut feelings. Pay no attention to recent massive security holes in basic systems like this:
"A senior House member wants to know how a dangerously infected man managed to get through U.S. Customs and Border Protection even though his passport had been flagged in their computer system. An alert that [TB Andy] should be detained and isolated, and public health officials should be contacted, showed up on the Customs and Border Protection computer system, but he was allowed to cross into the United States at Champlain, New York, anyway, the official said."
Of course, this was just an isolated incident. TB Andy got extremely lucky and just happened to encounter the only bonehead border agent in the entire system.

If we (well, Bush, really) had actually gone after the Al Qaeda network and bin Laden, instead of using 911 as a pretext to assert property rights in His Father's Backyard (i.e. Iraq), we'd be better off.
There's nothing like the feeling of knowing how much world sympathy that the USA flushed down the toilet in following BushCo into Iraq. Oh, well. Time to get some more plastic sheeting and duct tape.
