Voinovich: Administration "fucked up" the Iraq war - WASHINGTON (CNN) — A Republican senator says he warned top White House aide Karl Rove that President Bush quickly needs to craft a workable plan to withdraw U.S. troops fom Iraq in order to salvage his legacy.
[...]
Voinovich added that other Republicans are close to speaking out against the President’s current strategy.
“I won’t mention anyone’s name. But I have every reason to believe that the fur is going to start to fly, perhaps sooner than what they may have wanted.”
In private, Voinovich is more blunt, using a profanity to describe the White House’s handling of Iraq by charging the administration “f—ed up” the war.

It took Voinovich and "other Republicans" this long to figure this out? In the meantime, our civil rights have gone down the tubes courtesy of the Patriot Act, the office of VP claims he is beholden to no man or law, the President signs bills passed by Congress and then attaches statements saying he will ignore them, American citizens can be held for years without charge and incommunicado, and a multitude of other constitutional defilements. I'd say they not only fucked up the war, they fucked up the constitution and due process.

So, it would be only to protect his legacy? Not because this is a failed policy and our soldiers are dying and thousands of Iraqis have been killed and we have no credibility in the rest of the world and we have created a huge budget deficit and.......
I'm also thinking that the R's worry that on the slim outside chance they take the Whitehouse in '08 they dont want to deal with a war in Iraq either. They prefer this President clean up his own mess.

Let's check ... yep, Voiny Boy was one of the 77 who voted YES in the Senate for the 2002 Iraq War Resolution (almost 5 years ago). It appears that all he and his fellow Senators would have to do now is simply hold another vote and REVOKE that resolution. Simple.
... except that they won't do it, since all this faux complaining is just that: false. The Congress loves this war. It can't get enough of it. Too bad lots of people have to die to feed that love. Too bad also the news outlets largely treat so-called anti-war (even anti-Administration-handling) Congressional sentiment as being authentic in any way.

They, (the big wigs) don’t think the same as your regular earthlings do while in D.C. The big shots worry about their legacy as if it were some tangible value to be traded upon like one would a stock or a bond portfolio, and indeed it is. They have spent so many years being served and catered to by the toiling minions, a.k.a. (people like you and me), that they have long since left common sense by the wayside. There is an entire industry, (think tanks), guided and directed by political contributors, (special interests) that attempt to influence their thinking. The big wigs really do not think as a common laborer or income earner would think.
P.S. They think they are smarter than you and I, and as long as people eat the B.S. they shovel out without complaining or protesting, that proves they are right about that too!

Not only did they screw up the war in Iraq, and (should have been police action) on terrorism, but they screwed up big- time about the massive and poisonous dust clouds from 9-11 when authorities said it was safe to breathe. That's another terrible legacy that is starting to come to light.

Talk about synchronicity, BB! I was just in the South Toledo lib yesterday, talking with a Jeep worker, and he said essentially the same thing about the EPA and the 911 site.
