Comparing VP Cheney's explative to John F'ing Kerry - To compare VP Cheney's comment to the explatives uttered by John F'ing Kerry is like comparing sunup to sundown. If the innocent ears of the liberals and their fellow travelers are so upset about what VP Cheney said to Sen Leahy (D) VT, then why were there no voices raised to object to Sen. Kerry (D) MA when he spoke to a rally of Kerry supporters and made up primarily of yuppies of the same liberal bent. His (Kerry's)continual use of the "F" word was brushed off as Sen. Kerry's attempt to reach" those at the rally and speak in their language. Which ever way they cut it, Kerry used the "F" explative over and over and there has been no comment about his language, from the DNC or any Democrats, for that matter. Gee, do you think they might be a little biased and trying to condemn someone they want out of office and are trying to make him look bad? Nahhhhhhhhhh. Not the Democrats.

Fuckin' A.

Sarcasm aside, I'm actually somewhat glad to see this kind of thing. Vulgarity to express emotion is a simple philosophy, and is attacked by the snooty set as being, well, simple and vulgar. But simple vulgarity is hardly a validation of anything except being anti-snooty.

I despise Cheney, yet only shrugged after his landmark exclamation to Leahy. When real people get annoyed, they may erupt into an expletive. Those who hold themselves in restraint to such, are playing a role that I earnestly want out of American politics. I'm tired of the slick bastards playing political games, trying to redefine things like ketchup as a vegetable and whatever the word "is" actually means. Normal people should get back into politics.

And so should normal behavior, like getting pissed off and telling your opponent to "eat shit and die".

(Now's the time for all the snooty folk to pipe in with their long-time opinion about how vulgarity serves no practical function in discussion, yadda yadda.)

Okay, I will. It's interesting that you, anonymous excrement, are calling people names: snooty folk, slick bastards.

Resorting to vulgarity is an example of weakmindedness, laziness, and not being able to control one's emotions. And we all do it at times. But people without self-control shouldn't be trusted with power.

Someone who says, "Eat shit and die." during a political debate is a troglodyte. An example of extreme knuckle-dragging ignorance.

Flaming ignorant comments are fine in irrelevant situations, such as at a Michigan - Ohio State football game.

It's ok, jr. At least he hasn't threatened to beat you up outside a dark scary library... yet. *snicker*

Otherwise, well said.

"Anonymous excrement"? !!Good job!! Jr, I'm proud of you. We'll get you cursing like a real person yet, and in general cured of all the prissy hogwash we call "mainstream Liberalism". How does it feel to actually feel a real emotion for once? How does it feel to escape the stifling feminization forces of this depraved society?

Anger is a perfectly valid emotion; don't let anyone shame you away from it.

P.S. to Photodan: I let myself be seen outside the West Toledo library -- dark? in bright sunlight? -- as scheduled at 4pm that Sunday. After all, you doubted my Toledoan existence, so you were free to look. Did you see me? I was reading the book "The Monkey Wrench Gang".

If you want to interpret that as some sort of threat -- some guy, reading a book outside of a library, in broad daylight with plenty of passers-by, not knowing who was watching him -- then you should really, REALLY get out of the house more. Like my co-worker says: "You have to have some faith in people's good nature." Perhaps a bit of Prozac to prime the pump?

I just like the word "excrement." Ditto for "conundrum."

Guest said, "We'll get you cursing like a real person yet."

Thanks, but I don't need anyone's help with that. Just give me a task that requires being handy with tools, and I'll let loose with the cable version of Yosemite Sam. What scares me most is seeing the words: "Some Assembly Required."

Heck, just driving around Toledo gets the f-bombs whispering from my lips. I'm trying to calm down and do less under-the-breath cursing. Anger is a normal emotion, sure. Except for Vulcans. Uncontrollable anger is the problem.

From the book "Buddhism: Plain and Simple,"

"When we talk about others, we should be very careful to observe our motive -- especially if we're talking about a person who isn't present. Are we trying to knock the person down and raise ourselves up? When we speak about people based on what we think, feel, or hope rather than on what we observe and experience, we deprive them of their humanity. We have replaced what they are, in all their fluid vitality, with our own crystallized ideas, opinions, and beliefs. When we don't attend to what we see or know, but run with what we imagine, we create problems."

Or, whatever Morrie said in Mitch Albom's book "Tuesdays with Morrie," which should be required reading, in my opinion, for all Americans.

Now you've piqued my interest. What fires your ire when driving around the city?:

Idiot drivers? Rusty utility poles? Potholes? "Airlock" light timings? A plethora of dead retail space? Businesses with no signs on their buildings? The Teledyne plant on Laskey Rd. that is allegedly classified as "US Navy" land and is therefore exempted from property taxes? The totally empty Hytower Building? The ruined facing of the Madison Building? Panhandlers?

Like I said, I'm just curious.
