Women's NCAA bracket announced: BG draws 12 seed, faces UCLA - The 28-2 Falcons were penalized by a weak strength of schedule. So despite the second best record in the nation, they are relegated to a No. 12 seed.
So they will play the role of underdogs against No. 5 UCLA (who is -- and this is silly -- ranked below BG) who won the Pac 10 tournament this year. For what it's worth, UCLA's record is 19-10.
The game will be Sunday, March 19 in West Lafayette, Indiana.

I have to admit I thought they'd end up seeded higher too, I guess the bright spot is they have a very good chance at beating UCLA.

Just another case of the MAC not getting the recogonition it deserves. What will it take for the NCAA to finally realize that the MAC is a power conferance and start scheduling more contest against Big 10 like teams? Until then the MAC will be regulated to the back burner and will have a very tough time ever cracking the top 10 or being seeded higher in NCAA tourny's. Even if a team goes undefeated.
Go Rockets! Sorry, HHT, Toledo is done for the year!

It's a combination of BGSU's athletic department not being aggressive enough in scheduling and reluctance from bigger name schools.
Yeah, UT got to lure Duke into Savage Hall a couple of years ago (and beat Duke), but that's the exception and not the rule to getting a good schedule. BG needs to schedule teams of their same caliber. Teams like Stony Brook and Indiana State -- the bubble teams that didn't make it in this year. Even a tough loss in lieu of an easy win would have looked better for the team. At least they tried.
In all fairness they did have a big name on their skej this year -- Kentucky. But they couldn't pull off the roadie win. Still, you gotta give your team more than one chance to hit a big conference in the teeth.
