Where to Donate Used Computers - For the past several years our company has donated it's excess computer equipment to the Cherry Street Mission. We don't take junk. All equipment is throughly vetted by Virtual PC's just prior to donation, the hard drive wiped, a licensed copy of Windows XP is reinstalled and all documentation, warranty info and software registration is included. The last two batches of stuff were wireless ready. I know that donation is supposed to be selfless but geez, they don't even say "thank you" let alone give you a receipt. As we look at another round of replacements coming up this year is there any other agency that can use this equipment?

I would highly recommend the Catholic or other private schools. They really need updated computers and many are still running pre-XP systems. These schools don't get any of the funding that the public schools enjoy.

How about donating them to a mental health agency such as Unison/Rescue/Zepf. They have consumer groups that meet and do arts and crafts and trips. Maybe computers would give them a link to learning other things.

Holland:
You may wish to contact St. Charles Borromeo School (419) 382-7271. They could really use the computers, and they will appreciate any donation that they can get.

holland,
Sherman school, near St. Vs could really make great use of those machines. I'll get the contact information and post it tomorrow
I wonder also about one of the senior centers?
I'm really distressed over the Cherry St. Mission news.

Holland, please consider donating them to Self-Expression Teen Theater Institute. The Institute has a need for used computers to serve its youth (tutoring and homework assistance). You can reach them at (419) 242-2255 and/or settinstitute@sbcglobal.net

SETT issues receipts same day, too. Their administrative and program staff are prompt and professional.

I'm in the local Linux User group, and we're always looking for donated hardware for the Murchison Center which provides free computing to the public.
I can forward you the info if you want.
