I googled her name and came across this which linked her murder to a serial killer. Here is the excerpt . . .
Eileen Adams, 13, of Toledo, Ohio, was kidnapped in December, 1967, and found in January south of Ypsilanti, raped, strangled with an electrical cord, and stuffed into a sack. Like another victim, her bra was tied around her neck. She was cruelly beaten with a hammer, and a three-inch nail was driven into her skull. Her stockings were arranged on her body, but her shoes were missing. There was evidence of sexual assault and her body was placed in plain sight. It appeared that she had left willingly with her killer.
OMG. A 3 inch nail to her skull? How completely sick is that? That poor little girl and her family. May God grant them some peace.

I am super confused about this after watching 13's coverage of this story. They made it sound like they knew he did it in 1989? His wife went into hypnosis & told details, exactly where the body was hung, in a cellar, and they are just getting the DNA evidence now to link him? What's the deal here? I am sure I must have missed something. Someone fill me in?

Here is my understanding of this . . . but it is baffling nonetheless.
Eileen Adams (13) was taking the bus from Central to her sister's house in West Toledo near Sylvania and Douglas. Robert Baxter Bowman abducted her and took her to the home that he was sharing with his girlfriend/wife and their newborn daughter where he kept her captive repeatedly raping and torturing her.
The girlfriend/wife of Baxter Bowman went down to the basement to wash a baby's diaper and she heard strange noises coming from another room in the basement (I'm thinking maybe a dry cellar ...). She opened the door to the room and saw this poor girl hanging there. Suffering but not dead. The girlfriend/wife goes to leave (presumably to call the police) and is greeted by Baxter Bowman who says that now they have to kill the girl and if she doesn't help him, Baxter Bowman will kill their newborn daughter. The girlfriend/wife complies and they dump the poor little girl's body off the side of the road in southern Michigan.
The 13 abc story in 1989 said that the girlfriend/wife spontaneously went to the Toledo Police in 1980 or 1981 and came clean telling the whole story of finding the girl and helping to dispose of the body. The police questioned Baxter Bowman who did not deny nor admit the murder but acknowledged that this poor little girl had been in his house. Apparently, there was no physical evidence to link him to the murder (pre-DNA technology I guess - 1981) so they were unable to detain him. The 1989 story said that police found Baxter Bowman in Florida living in an abandoned restaurant with rats and snakes that he had trained to respond to his commands. He also had a small doll haning in one of the windows that was bound in the same way that the little girl's body had been bound and also had a nail or a needle going through the head too.
Tonight's 13 abc story said that the family of Eileen Adams had recently called cold case detectives and asked them to re-open the case which lead to DNA testing of some semen found on the poor little girl.
This may be one of the most awful stories that I've heard. How she must have suffered.

I'm wondering if they will ever find the murderer of Cynthia Anderson.

The latest rumor is that Cynthia Anderson was disposed of on a pig farm just south of BG by family members of local drug cartel. At least, that is what the neighbors of this particular pig farm say anyway. I don't know why they believe this, but they do. For her family, and the family of Ms. Adams, I can't imagine the pain. My heart goes out to them.

Well my people will be doing their parts now. I thank the Toldeo Blade for bringing this information to the forefront. We now have a name and a face.
Who am I and who are my people? I'm one of the foremost online sleuths of all things murderous and I interact with hundreds if not thousands of others who work on similar issues. We have Yahoo! groups, blogs and online thinktanks on solving crimes that are cold.
Thousands of people just got the name Robert Baxter Bowman and got a look at his picture.
Thank you Toldeo Blade

That's interesting. I have glanced at those sites occasionally, but just don't have the time to spend online to really do any research myself. (2 toddlers - just no way that I can spend that kind of time online and still manage to provide for my kids financially and emotionally!) But, I always thought if I were a retiree or someone who for some other reason had a lot of free time to spend online (maybe if I won the lottery and didn't need to work anymore...ha ha), that it would be a fascinating hobby.
Saw an episode of a Dateline/20-20 type show not that long ago where a web sleuth was able to help ID a missing man and bring some peace to his family. (Perhaps you saw the episode? The web sleuth was a lady who worked at Home Depot by day, and the man who was murdered had been an antique collector with 2 children who it turns out was murdered by his partner.)
I also glance at missing persons websites occasionally - projectjason.org is my favorite. I've always had a good memory for faces...figure it couldn't hurt to glance at the pictures of the missing occasionally because you never know who you might be able to help. And those families deserve to have some peace. Their stories are heartbreaking.

This is every parents' worst nightmare. My heart goes out to these families. And I truly hope that there is justice.
