Toledo Jeep Flyer tell how most of us Rank & File feel - The house needs cleaned out from the top down.
=====
"We are a team of creative, hard-working, caring people..."
Team? Hard-Working? Caring? You have got to be kidding.
We have some of the most lazy, uncaring people working here.
Want to know why most of your employees are disgruntled?
Or de) you want to see more behavior similar or worse than that of Myles Meyers?
Here's why...
You have employees who have no qualifications, not to mention, no seniority...sucking up to union reps,
doing "nothing" jobs. Nothing jobs! No one can bid on them, yet these "scabs" are getting paid big bucks, overtime & benefits. My gawd man! Where's the fairness in that??
What do we tell our fellow brothers/sisters about the Union?
They're supposed to be there to help & protect us, right?
Then why in the heck is this ridiculous sceme allowed to continue.
It continues because of kickbacks ... there's alotta s---in & f---in goin on.
Well guess what? We will not tolerate it. Some of us have contacted outside assistance.
This is not a threat... mere fact.
Dianne Sawyer is contemplating a visit. (originally the topic was "stealing office supplies in the workplace")
Channel 11's, Call for Action is interested in doing a "piece"...
And Marty Holmes is being contacted about a possible class action suit.
Didn't know anything about this, did you?
You do now!!!!!I!!!! So why do anything?
here's why because some of us ARE hardworking and caring.
We care about OUR company and don't want to see this anger reach it's boiling point.
It's getting out of hand. People are MAD as hell.
Need names? Here are 2.
Take Ms Shaylynn B ... collecting what? ? ? 90, maybe 95% of her pay
for the last umptene years for a supposed injury. She's even filed bankruptcy.
Yet she swims, plays with her kids and rides a Harley.
How about the Afro American employee with her multi-million dollar discrimination law-suit?
Better yet..
Just ask the Uberty ladies how they feel when they see some young girl working in an office, doing nothing.
Oh, not exactly nothing ... she carries a small screen TV in her backback. .
She's been on so-called disability for 3 years b/c of an alleged injury to her back/shoulder and has filed bankruptcy.
Yep... but she (S l Dittman) can go sky-diving. Pictures of her doing it are in hand.
Oh & she tells her co-workers, if they make me go back on the line, I'll fake another injury.
Well, what the hell??? That's where she belongs since she has no seniorty to do what she's doing.
She worked maybe one frickin year, got a fake injury & is back here, making more than most of us who have been loyal. Damn! That's the kind of person we want representing our work force. Why wasn't that job up for bid????????
Oh but it's in her genes, she gets it naturally... her mom worked here, swept floors & got tight with the rep. Then there's the grandfather, Rawlings.
Remember him??? ...for every 2 cars going out the front door, he stole one out the back. Yes sir, that's a tradition that Jeep should be proud of. NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It makes Noe look like a do-gooder for gawdsakes!!!!!!
Make no mistake, there are several others too. . And the list goes on. The point is... there should not even be such a listllllllllllllllil
This is what an expert wrote in the Blade just a few weeks ago:
"I've heard 'x' numbers of explanations of what happened, and I'm sure you've all heard 'x' explanations of what happened, Mr. Lewton said. But it all boils down to one question: How can a guy get into a plant with a shotgun? Managers need to be taught how to defuse situations and recognize signs of potentially violent employees, and companies need plans for dealing with such situations, he said."
Yes, some of us are extremely upset.
Do you trust that YOUR managers are seeing the signs of discontentment??
But the time has come, to do something constructive.
The anger is getting out of control. .
We beg you to put a stop to this.
None of us want to appear on tv... orworse, have another Meyers moment.
We hope you heed our plee.
Treat us fairly, and we all will be... a team of creative, hard-working, caring people ...n

Let's not even think about another Myles Myers, such a tragedy; In another Jeep Topic, 2 Dead 2 Wounded where was the Union, we learned Myles Myers should have had 3 days discipline time off, we heard Management had tried to force drug testing, the Union stopped all of this from happening, maybe not only Managers but Union Representatives too, need to learn how to deal with Worker Management problems more effectively.
Eyeswideshut, we all are tired of all the waste with Job Bank, we all are tired of unqualified friends of Union Representatives put in Appointed Positions, we all have RIGHT to see the LIST that goes on and on that you speak of!

Anyone know anything about a Jeep employee on Thursday day shift who allegedly threatened to shoot the place up? I just got a call from someone who said a Jeep worker was taken away in handcuffs by TPD, but I can't find anything in the MSM.

Hello HistoryMike, I will call my friend, Sgt. on the the Toledo Police and find out if this is true...I will e-mail anything I may learn from him to you.
Nothing was said at Stickney of any "Threats"...

Sadly, this is no suprise to me. I have over 28 years at Jeep. It used to be simple, the company tried to screw you, the union protected you. Now, they both screw you. I've seen people that have literally been on sick leave/workmans comp. longer than they have worked. Granted, at the old plant there were/are a lot of jobs that will physically hurt punish you. I have worked in the body shop my entire time at Jeep. In that time the only sick leaves I've had were twice for hernia surgery and twice for knee surgery. The last knee surgery I returned after only 10 days! Sometimes I wonder if it's us honest folks who are stupid. As recently as last year I saw a plantwide seniority list that listed rate of pay. You'd have been suprised at some of the names on there. People who haven't even worked at the plant for years. Also note, when a union rep. moves on to some appointed job at local 12 or the training center, they continue at there old rate of pay, which in the case of a committeeman is whatever the highest paid employee they represented made. So for the whole time Pete Gerken "worked"(and I use the term loosely) at the training center, he was making $34.00+ per hour. Our union leadership,(again term used loosely)fills their wallets, and gets appointed, do-nothing jobs for their drinking buddies while the REAL Jeep workers bust our butts and the company eliminates jobs and gives us more work. When quality drops, the company doesn't stop and say, "we cut too far", they just push harder. While this happens the union says, "do the best you can", and we do, because we care.
Remember Joe Garverick? I'm not sure, but he "may" have finally retired. That guy couldn't have worked a real job more than a year. IIRC he was hired around 1985. Of course now he's married into money and owns a golf course (which I'm sure our union reps have played for free more times than you can count. Somehow he was able to claim that he had a form of epilepsy and was unable to work around ANY machinery, production lines included of course. Yet I wonder how often he ran the big mowers at the golf course?
Of course you remember Ron Conrad, permanent stress leave, how nice. I ran into him at Krogers a couple years back, didn't look too stressed. (free money will help stress you know) All of these people give us a bad name. People hear you work at Jeep and they look at you like you were scum.

JeepMaker, All the USERS playing the system, the Union's clique, the ABUSERS of Sick Leaves, it is all going to catch up with them, come 2006 Daimler/Chryser will not allow all of this waste, my belief, we are going to see a WORKING COMMITTEE, this globalization, lean manufacturing is not going to STOP with us (The REAL Worker) Daimler/Chrysler is going to clean out the Committee, all the Users and Abusers, also.
Heard, the Company has Private Investigators, watching these repetitive users, they'll get caught, one by one.
There is NO UNION at Jeep Corporation, this is a Company PAID Union, how in the world is this Union Representatives?
I too, have NOT seen Henneman on the FLOOR, this was ONE of his "promisies", I don't feel he has any leadership qualitites to be Chairman, then what would that leave us with if Henneman resigned? That Vice-Chairman? He's about as useful as the LIST of WASTE Posters have commented on.

I have a friend who works at St. Charles Hospital on the Physc. Ward., she has dealt with our Jeep Workers over and over...that's where they are sent...when they are about to lose their jobs over issues as, drug use, acohol use...she cannot STAND Jeep Workers...she has told me over and over, they are Users and Abusers of the System and get away with it, the lowest form of life!!! She said, same ones all the time, over and over in her Unit!!!
I have tried to defend us in this way...Look at me, I am a decent human being, I have done a good job raising my daughter, I don't take Fake Sick Leaves, nor, was I ever threatened to be "Fired"...we're all not as that group that shows up in your Unit, over and over...
The percentage of Workers that are the Users and Abusers of the system do make us all look bad...here is one example of that percentage...this guy has been fired 4 times to my knowledge, he has been thru the drug program more than once (lots of dollars this costs the company)...he has always somehow been able to get his job back...in the same department, never, did he have to report to the employment window...well...he just retired a few months back, FULL PENSION!!! This is a perfect example of someone that was Fired and in the Program more than an actual active employee working...and...he is sitting back collecting full Pension!
All of it makes me ill!!!

Our Job Bank Dollars work well for some...don't they???

I also heard from Augie, that part of the reason that we can't get a "good" PPO is that we have one of the highest Employee Assistance program costs in the corporation. Because the same people keep getting dried out, going through the drug programs etc. Add to that the legitimate people that need help and the price begins to soar.

I would like to know who are you???
This to JeepMaker...Lee Herbert had admitted to the rampant use of Drugs at Jeep in an article in the Blade a few weeks back; you stated Augie had told you that is why we cannot get a decent PPO the repeated use of using the Program by the same over and over...me, personally...I am totally disgusted with suffering losts of good Insurance and having a bad reputation as a Jeep Employee...because of that precentage of the same old same old...

have you looked into the things i have posted here? have you found it to be true? suffice it to say that i have done my homework and have access to a lot of information. the union has never done anything for me in the past and i can not count on them to save my job should they find out who i am. you know how the program works if you go to work everyday do your job then screw up one time the company comes after you. then after you introduce yourself to the steward and commiteeman (since you have never met them ) you get time off or fired and have to fight to get your job back. (guilty until proven innocent) you do not want to know me i worked in your area before and know who you are keep up the work and good luck in the ongoing effort to make jeep a decent workplace

so_you_think, I have a question: this 30 million dollar loan Dan Henneman borrowed from the next contract...how is this going to be enough money to get thru 4 years? I was told by Dave Hall, they're going thru a million dollars per month...
I also, heard...Dan Henneman asked for 60 million initially and was turned down...
30 million probably won't be enough money to get me out of there with 28 Buy-Out...not, the way they're spending money...(I had my hours in to go, last February).
I have decided, it's allright that they're spending my Early Out on WASTE...as long as...I...can watch all of them FALL...I agree with ajeepthing, Daimler/Chrysler is not going to allow all this WASTE...and...my thoughts are: Daimler/Chrysler will break this Company Paid Union...soon...very soon...as long as I can watch...well, they can have my Early Buy-Out! They can have shared interests in Gol Courses...all of it...as long as I can watch them FALL!

I simply want my questions answered...in an intelligent way...I am tired of being BLOWN OFF, LIED TO...I am TIRED of seeing the same old same old get away with doing NOTHING and reaping rewards such as "Appointed Positions"...and it goes on and on...

certain areas are being targeted to get people out of the plant. skilled trades is the big target. they are offering $70,000 to get trades people to retire and guys are taking it.they have to get rid of people and it will get worse by next year when the other plant closes. i guess you have to look at this as a company problem not really the union. but the company has made it a union problem by giving them just enough control so they can be blamed for all the problems. (enough rope to hang themselves.) if you take any business courses one thing they talk about is "empowering the workers" that is give them the feeling that they have control over the future. notice i say the "feeling" when in actuality they have no power at all just the blame for failures. our union has bought into this hook line and sinker they actualy think they are part of the company and help to manage the plant. the company has given them that FEELING and they are believing it. the union should throw it all back into their faces and let the company take the responsibility for their actions. the union feels empowered because they have so many people sitting around doing nothing and getting paid for it and they think that this is success.think about this at any one time there are at least 500 people out of work at our plant collecting sub and unemployment and that has been going on for 5 years plus another 200 in the job bank. so you think that is a successful union?

I am guessing...so_you_think...that you are saying the 30 million isn't getting me out of Jeep...
I went to the Jeep Picnic downtown this evening...I talked with Dan Henneman...he received a call while we were talking...he said the call was from someone wondering if he "needed to be rescued from me"...
That...In my opinion...in itself, gives me POWER of some kind...I mean... if whomever phoned felt a big strong man as Dan needed rescued...from me...I am five foot four 115 lbs. I Love It!!!
Dan Henneman also told me he is going to get 20 people to log on to "Toledo Talk" and bring me down...I told him...I am not a bad person...I just do not take to kindly to being lied to...
For me...I just do not take well to being LIED to by my own Representation...whether this Representation is Company Paid or not..

also, I think Dan Henneman is allright...I believe he cares about us...
Still...though...I just do not take kindly to being LIED to...that's a tough one for me to get over...I believed in him...I actually voted for him...
I could never lie..it's difficult for me to get over this one...

Noone likes being lied to...lying to someone is an insult to other's integrity; No, our leadership should not lie, but, they do, all we can do is let them know we will not tolerate their lies anylonger!
There's rumors that Inveress is going to be done by using a plantwide list, possibly using the Internet with our "cheap Pc's" helped make this change, hopefully we at Stickney will receive as much Inveress time as North Cove and KJ with this change.
Hey, someone called Henneman to rescue him from you, Marie, lol! How about if someone, anyone, rescues all of us from him!
so_you_think, no the union is not doing a good job having 500 on unemployment, sub and 200 in the job bank, you say 200 in job bank, myopinion says over 400, which is it?
I do not like borrowing from the next Job Bank this 30 million, I have 1985 senority, what if there is a cut back, will there be SUB?

I think you give him too much credit, I don't think he gives a rat's rectum about us.
I've been thinking, regular working folks like us don't really benefit from the job bank money(except for the fact that you wanted the early out). I really don't care if the job bank money runs out, maybe all those appointed cronies will have to work for a change.

No matter, how nice and charming Dan Henneman is to my face, I do know he laughs about me and probably considers me One Big Thorn in his side...and...I...just cannot get the workd "LIAR" out of my thoughts regarding him!

I'm new and this is my first posting. I would like to share some random thoughts prompted by the postings of some fellow Jeepers:
-eyeswideshut- Why have ANY love for this company? They obviously don't give a rat's sphincter about you. I'm wrong you say? Think about this-
Look at the declining quality of our worklives. (It's all about numbers. They want to raise profits by THIS much so they have to get rid of THIS many people. This is reviewed and acted upon yearly.)
Look at the mess we are in with our medical insurance (take a bow Lloyd Mahaffey).
Look how Daimler gets around paying us our profit sharing.
Look at the absentee policy we've had shoved down our throats.
Look at how the power of your seniority had eroded with the coming of job rotation and lean manufacturing.
Look at how the company has skirted the issue of the basic employment level. Is the Union powerless to enforce the contract or can they just not admit they were snookered at the bargaining table?
Therefore, I ask, why have any love for this organization whatsoever. They'll screw you in a new york minute, take the money they saved by doing it, and laugh all the way to the bank which, I might add, is in Stuttgart, Germany.
-jeepmaker- When Pete Gerkin ascended to his position at the Training Center he received a special rate available ONLY to people at that level. If he received the rate of his highest paid constituent he would have taken a whopping pay cut. STEWARDS are paid in the manner you suggest.
-It seems our Union is, more and more, being looked upon as a third entity on the battlefield that is Jeep. People are calling Labor with their big problems because the Union's set response is to sweep things under the rug, bury their heads in the sand, and hope everything goes away. Sad.
-marielora- Yes, Dan was more than likely talking some trash behind your back. Don't be offended though, take it as a complement, wear it as a medal of honor. Personally, I never thought he had what it takes for the job and his actions (or lack thereof) are bearing me out. He'll be back to work in a couple of years.
You really want to be a thorn in his side? At the next Union meeting stand up and demand accountability of the whereabouts of all Union officers and appointed personnel AT ALL TIMES WHILE ON THE CLOCK! This means posting their GATE RINGS directly from Labor Relations onto the share drive for the Team Leaders to print out and post. Old Dan's a**hole will pucker up tighter than a drum and some or most of the Committee just may faint straightaway. "Take away our 5 hour lunches?" In the words of Saturday Night Live's Mr. Bill, "OH NOOOO!"
Could someone give me a complete explanation of the uses and abuses surrounding the job bank? I'm embarrassed to say I know almost nothing about it.
Thanks for reading.

my opinion, he offered the job to keep you happy and quiet until you retire.
To answer the question as to the number in job bank being 400, that's what I heard. I heard Nick Vuich when in office had 235.
Now, there was a list of dept. 1480 job bank, floating around last week that list was 200 strong along with that list was the committee's staff, atleast 75 to 100 strong.
Ask Henneman at the union meeting how strong the list is.

Speaking of gate rings. I have no idea who the guy is, but I frequently see this guy drive up in a Ram pickup, get out, scan his badge, turn the turnstile from the outside and drive away. Why else, other than scamming the company would someone be doing this?
posted by JeepMaker at 06:04 P.M. EST on Wed Aug 03, 2005 #
catharsis, job bank funds are to guarantee laid off workers 40 hours pay, SUB. The list that was floating around the plant last week, showed 3 stewards are being paid out of the bank, making big overtime, teamleaders are being paid again making overtime, wasn't job bank set up with 40 hour limit pay? If the ISD jobs are needed why isn't Corporate paying these jobs wages, they too are paid out of job bank. Recycle Jobs are paid out of job bank, again why isn't Corporation paying these wages?
As poster marielora stated, inveress is paid out of job bank and is not given equally, Stickney employees receive few inveress weeks and are told it is because of sick leaves, again, why is sick leave's being covered by inveress personal that are paid out of job bank? It goes on and on.

Catharsis, Thankyou for your Post...and welcome to "Toledo Talk" (a GREAT way to Vent...)I do go on and on about our Chairman, Dan Henneman and our Vice Chairman Daryl Peterson, both personally assurring me I would sign my papers this past February...I may sound BITTER...but, I want all to know...(using the Internet) our WORLD in Toledo to know...that our Executive Committee LIES and believes it is allright to do so...
Yes, Catharsis I am TIRED of his WAYS also, when I went to the Union Meeting (the last one) to personally ask him in front of all there...why he told me to make my plans, that Buy-outs would continue...
The whole time Mark Epley read the financial report and minutes were being read, (I was sitting front table in front of him)...he stood there looking down at me LAUGHING...real PROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOR...
Henneman is lying to all of us in the first quarter (Jan 2005-Mar 2005) as to Buy-Outs and he is going to stand at a Union Meeting and laugh at me...when I did ask him "WHY" at the Meeting, he apologized...I guess he felt that was good enough...I am sorry it is NOT...our OWN REPRESENTATIVES should be of something we can believe in...our Union has become ONE BIG JOKE!!! And...they keep getting BIGGER!!!
Then...at Sunday's picnic, Henneman tells me he is going to have 20 people log onto Toledo Talk and bring me down, or he may hire a HACKER to HACK into the SYSTEM to find out who all are...what do I care...he already knows who I am...how is this going to HURT ME??? Then...he offers me a Job with the United Way, an appointed postition...I DON'T LIKE HAND PICKED APPOINTED POSITIONS!!! I don't know whether to feel...He's a LIAR...or...HE HAS NO IDEA WHAT HE IS DOING...
Daryl Peterson...too...I don't know how to take him...everything in me...says DON'T TRUST HIM!!!
As far as, the contract, I honestly do not believe they know what they negotiated, in another Post we had going...a Poster had stated there is no attorney in "Talks" on the union end.
Job Bank funds are low, Henneman and Company plan on borrowing from the next contract...what he plans on doing with this MONEY...who knows??? Job Bank Funds are used for Inveress Lay Off...which IS NOT DISTRIBUTED EQUALLY, I HAVE A BROTHER-INLAW AT NORTH COVE WHO HAS HAD 18 INVERESS AT 2 WEEKS EACH...THAT IS 36 WEEKS OFF PAID!!! While we at Stickney are LUCKY to receive 3 ONE WEEK INVERESS PER YEAR!!!
Paul Rickman (who seems a DECENT HUMAN BEING) told me...he BELIEVES Buy-Outs will begin in January 2006 or April.
Catharsis, thankyou for your post...it is greatly appreciated!

Someone left copies of the job bank list and committee list workers area before start up time for the shift. People passed them around for each other to read.
The three stewards were Walt Webb, T. Johnson and Richard Lott. Now, we can't blame Henneman for that one, probably have always been paid out of job bank.
Job bank money run out, hell yes, that would be a good thing to get rid of all those in appointed jobs.

marielora, hell, I don't trust any of them, I'll tell you this, all the 27 years I have worked at Jeep, the Vice Chairman, Petersen, has never said hello, shook my hand, nothing, I don't know how he's elected.
Henneman, he's easy to talk to, but, time will say if he follows through on any of his promises.

IIRC the Ram was silver, it had one of those aftermarket aluminum fuel door covers. This was at the south body shop gate at TNAP.

-marielora- Can anyone tell me if the stewards on the job bank list are active or are they on some kind of leave? Richard Lott has always enjoyed lots of overtime from his union positions. I'm wondering if everything is on the up-and-up here. Can you get copies out to other areas of the plant?
-myopinion- If, in your eyes, Dannyboy has not come through on any promises yet, (he's had plenty of time, don't you think?), then perhaps you may want to consider the possibility that he's a bit overwhelmed in the position. When the stewards can't get it done, when the committeeman can't get it done, then it's up to the chairman. The buck stops here! If HE can't get things done, it ain't gonna git done. This is not a trait you're looking for in the number one guy. His inability to come through weakens the entire chain.
Also, I can't agree with you on cleaning house with all appointed jobs. I recently met an inverse coordinator from KJ who explained, in about 20 seconds, how to file for unemployment. My steward couldn't do that in a week. Some of them actually DO bring a little something to the table.
Now, concerning that list of dept.1480...75 to 100 on the committee staff? Holy Toledo! How is it that they have that many people and still take months to get a grievance settled? With all those people to delegate work to how come Dan, Daryl and the others can't get their fat asses on the floor other than at election time?

Catharsis, I do not personally have a copy of the Job Bank list, I only was shown a copy then passed it on...
The way to check if someone is "Active" in the Job Bank is to go on Dashboard, opening page it will tell you "whose, whose" in the Chrysler Corp., type their name in...when their name shows up, click the blue link (their name) it will tell you what Dept., pays them...
I did this with Walt Webb, he is paid out of Dept., 1480 Job Bank, as is Tom J. Johnson, now Richard Lott's name was on the list...but, showed paid 9550...possibly he was paid out of the Job Bank at one time...now is paid out of 9550...
In another Topic we had going...Jeep Worker goes to lunch kills wife, friend, self...a Poster named so_you_think actually knew wages made of Walt Webb, Steward and Tom J. Johnson Steward, both paid out of Job Bank...
The Job Bank List, 1480, was 200 STRONG...the Committee Staff List, I am guessing 60 STRONG...quite a STAFF they have there!!!
On Toledo Talk Home Page, right side, scroll down to "Hot Topics" click Jeep...click the Topic...Jeep Worker goes to lunch, etc...you can read what so_you_think has to say about it...
If a copies of these lists turn up again...I will Post on Toledo Talk...and...save it for you...

Also, Cathersis, the problem I have with Appointed Positions...the protocol of the Union I believe...is to chose their friends and girlfriends for these positions...whether they are qualified or not...
Some...in Appointed Positions do a GREAT JOB...I agree...one that stands out that I could NEVER figure HOW this person was our PQI Rep.,at Stickney...was the PQI Rep.,that retired some months back, this woman SAT at a table in the Cafeteria for YEARS, NEVER did she troubleshoot any quality problems, she did literally NOTHING...that's the WASTE I am referring to in the Job Bank...
I would also like to see a TIME LIMIT of some kind with these Appointed Positions, whereas we all have the opportunity to learn the all's inside...it just doesn't seem fair at all the same old same old hold these positions endlessly!

Remember Joe? I'm not sure, but he "may" have finally retired. That guy couldn't have worked a real job more than a year. IIRC he was hired around 1985. Of course now he's married into money and owns a golf course (which I'm sure our union reps have played for free more times than you can count. Somehow he was able to claim that he had a form of epilepsy and was unable to work around ANY machinery, production lines included of course. Yet I wonder how often he ran the big mowers at the golf course?
Of course you remember Ron, permanent stress leave, how nice. I ran into him at Krogers a couple years back, didn't look too stressed. (Free money will help stress you know) All of these people give us a bad name. People hear you work at Jeep and they look at you like you were scum.

***********************************************************
JeepMaker, aha how our memories have faded over the years... Let’s see Joe that name.... Oh yes its coming to me now... he's been kind of like the Tom Noe of jeep. What an operator, with the golf course that job bank built, the trips with our dues money, & oh of course all the gifts bought from his golf shop that jeep unit paid for. And to think he was Sargent at arms, and also jeep united way representative. Now I believe he's an archconservative in the land of Ottawa Lake hosting get-togethers for republicans at the golf course. Boy the stories I've heard about Ron & Joe and a list of others, to bad for them the feds put an end to the party. You know when the music stopped Ron was left without a chair! To bad but someone had to take the fall. Ron had so much potential, he was a strong leader, could (if he wanted to) keep his people in line, he did do allot of good, to bad the dark forces of the UAW took control. While Ron took it like a man the dark sides both union and management scurried for cover, got to put a lid on this. And then..... The plant manager..... What’s his name...? Can’t remember.... Was quietly moved out of town, very interesting.
So I thank you JeepMaker for jogging my memory from days gone by. If anyone of you in jeep land care to correct me, in my recollections, feel free for its been along time and this is only my hubble opinion as to some of the history at jeep.

I haven't been online in a few days, wow, alot is being said.
Where do I start, I'll start with, I have 1985 senority the question is: WILL I MAKE IT OUT OF THERE? so_you_think and Marie, both of you at tops have a couple years left and you're home free, what you Marie yourself have said so I quote you "THE LAST OF THE GOLDEN CHILDREN". As far as I am concerned so_you_think and Marie you both have a rainbow at the end of your storm, me, well, I have 20 years senority and haven't had a BID JOB in years! The same old cronies that have been running this union at Toledo Jeep and they tell me, I am fortunate to be working first shift at all!
Appointed position? I'll never know, I still have 10 years left on that line and when it's over, my question, which noone knows what to tell me is: WILL THERE BE PENSION LEFT?
Appointed positions 40 hrs., only for some does the RULE apply, many work 60 hours per week paid out of Job Bank, while other Appointee's were told their hours were now CUT to 40 hr., (as is the RULE) and went back on the line, double set of RULES with this Job Bank.
Now, Ron Conrad, EMBEZZELER? How is he any worse that what has stayed in OFFICE after he left? Me, I say, BRING RON BACK we NEED HIM, BRING RON BACK, let him spill the dirt on what we have currently in OFFICE, then our CHANGE will come, a whole new REGIME!
Yes, Marie, I will keep posting, I know, our co-workers are reading, I also know, many are afraid to make comments; but they read!

I've been thinking about the Company paying our Union Rep's., we are the ONLY Plant that has Company Paid Rep's.,and Rep's., that ARE NOT WORKING REP'S...
This is to the Company's advantage to pay these Rep's.,let them believe they are actually "EXECUTIVES"...let them believe they have CONTROL of the Plant...reality being...aslong as the Company pays their WAGES, the Company has FULL CONTROL...yes, I was 100 percent correct when I referred to them as "Elected Human Resource Rep's."...
We have a Company PAID Union...it makes absolutely NO SENSE...other than a real SMART MOVE on the Company...

-deepthroat- I share your appreciation of Ron Conrad's apparent (as far as I could tell by looking in from the outside) abilities. Even though he purportedly ran the show from his favorite watering hole I would look the other way to have a strong leader again. Did Ron take the big hit for others? Undoubtedly! Some older union reps, now retired, have told me it was so. We may never know. This has the makings of a made-for-TV movie!
-marielora- If I remember right the money was controlled by a joint union-management committee.

-marielora- It seems to me I was told a long time ago that Ron cut a deal with the powers that be (the feds, union, company, whoever) not to seek union office for a dozen or so years. This was designed to effectively end Ron's political career. But look at things now. He could conceiveably win if an election were held today. I wonder if he left a loophole for re-employment just in case?

Catharsis, first let me tell you...I LOVE THE SCREEN NAME you have chosen for "Toledo Talk", it is fitting!!!
I would LOVE to see Ron Conrad come back...if just to Clean House in the Committee Room!
I liked him, he definetly had CONTROL of the Plant and rumor has it...he's the one that ran the Campaign that ousted Nick and Daryl...
So Many in the Plant I have heard say the past few months..."We haven't had a Union since Conrad!" For me...that says...he's forgiven of all he took the "FALL" for...actually many of us hold him in high regard for taking the "FALL" alone!
LET'S GET HIM BACK, SOMEHOW...I have NO IDEA how to contact him...I would LOVE to have him show up at a Union Meeting sometime!!! I would LOVE TO SEE A CERTAIN COMMITTEE MEMBERS FACE AS HE IS POOPING HIS DRAWERS!!!
If it's so, what JeepMaker stated...that Ron Conrad is on PERMANENT STRESS LEAVE...wouldn't that mean he is an ACTIVE EMPLOYEE?
If Dan Henneman can run for Chairman (Fired Steward)...then why? couldn't Ron come back!!!

I am thinking...if Ron Conrad could come back and work with Dan...we could be a United Strong Union...they both do have STRONG personalities...Ron could work with Dan...
I am thinking I have been hard on Dan Henneman...
It is a big jump from Steward to Chairman...he's working with some that were/are very LOYAL to Nick...we had a Shooting in the Plant...then Archie goes to lunch kills his wife, friend, self...
A CONTRACT to deal with that he's blamed for all that is happening and had NOTHING to do with Negotiations...he did BID all the jobs APPOINTED POSITIONS HELD...he DID work on a PPO with our HEALTHCARE...he DID give us more MANPOWER at Stickney, trying to help with our LIMITED INVERESS TIME...
I am going to STOP calling him a LIAR...it's not his FAULT...it's all DARYL'S FAULT! :-)

-marielora- That's quite a 180 you did on the chairman. Going from steward to chairman would be a big jump for some people but Dan was a steward for a decade and a half! He has seen a lot of history made and served under some excellent people. He was as ready as he would have ever been. Some people just aren't made for the number one seat.
As for Daryl...he was voted out once for not being seen among other things. Now that he has been given a second chance he has gone back to business as usual - the very thing that put him back to work before. Why would he think his people like that stuff now when they didn't like it then? He owes his constituents something for those votes...that goes for the rest of them too!!

cathersis, to answer your question Dan Henneman having plenty of time to follow through on promises, hell he's only been in office 14 months and he's done some good things, he needs some help, I still say if he would work with the uniontruth people and force ppeej group out, the man would have a chance of doing some good things for us as a whole union. Atleast we can talk to Dan Henneman, he's given his cell phone number to all of us, we need to give him a chance.
I don't like appointed positions just given to whoever, there should be some kind of application taken not just being friends of a union rep.,I don't like stewards, teamleaders paid out of job bank, I don't like it that more than 40 hours is paid out of job bank. I don't especially enjoy working my a-- off on that line watching re-cycle people ride by in a cart, I don't like the job eliminations each time a job is eliminated that is one less person to ever have a jeep job, one less person recalled, on and on.
You people crazy, you want to bring Ron Conrad back? Now, didn't a poster say Ron and Tom Maxim own a golf course together? Isn't that cozy. Ron had control of the plant? Hell no, Ron was sleeping with Tom Maxim,(head of labor) and the plant manager, Ron didn't have control of the plant, sound to me Ron had more of what the French say going, maw-twa, than control of the plant.
Job bank money low, I heard, there's more paid out of the job bank with this administration, I heard they did get the loan from next job bank contract, I don't like it, who has a worse deficit our Jeep unit union or our government? I say, let the money run out, get rid of all their friends in the appointed positions, never had appointed positions before, why do we need them now?
Inveress, marielora you go on about and you are right, we at Stickney do not get Inveress like the rest of them do, now that is something I will say Dan Henneman needs to do something about, setting this Inveress up where it is equal to everyone, hell, why not just stop the Inveress, never had it before with layoffs and let you people go on the 28 out package.
I don't type too fast, marielora, so I don't post to much, but, I will look at the website atleast once per week and make a comment.

Some have been threaten, some have been ridiculed, but all of us realize if not for this message board we would have an outlet to discuss happenings throughout the plants.
That said I would like to offer an explanation as to why I feel things have gone so far a rye.
One- HISTORY the Jeep United way funds how it was handled during and after the scandal. I don't believe there ever was a detailed response as to what happened, why it happened, and how we were going to prevent such a thing from happening in the future by our union officials.
Two- what changes have actually been made in regards to communication to the workforce since these terrible shootings? Not much, the chairman is making his promised visits in the plants that I have seen (please correct me if I'm wrong I do like Dan). The jeep unit news hasn't been in the local 12 BI-monthly paper in along time and it seems like worker to worker comes out to little to late. What about promised contract books two years late. And our newest union official who promised monthly hand out sheet accounting for all expenses from the jeep unit. Not happening, why not, seems like someone’s hiding something from us. This is not a foreign practice, local 12 does it, other locals print them in their monthly papers, please explain to us what possible reason for this? How about the six-figure club in the job bank? I can't believe that if we negotiated jobs out of the job bank. They would include unlimited overtime, with little or no overtime charges to that department. Is it true? Is this what a unions all about? These are what we the thinking members of this union are striving for... can't we discuss this here on this message board for all to see in a democratic way without all the heavy handed tactics that are going on at this very moment.... PLEASE.

Seems to me that there is no accountability. The union will get back to you (lol). The same people who tell us our contract books are at the printers (for the last 2 years). I personally HATE this overtime and would LOVE to see our union not cower to whatever the company wants. But honestly it's been decades since we've had a truely strong union. Cathersis, yes it may seem I took a turnaround but know...with making comments to these posts, reading everyone's thoughts, I think...I think alot...What I cannot get out of my head is...WE HAVE A COMPANY PAID UNION...SO...WHOSE IN CONTROL...I JUST CANNOT SEE WHERE OUR UNION REP'S HAVE ANY CONTROL ASLONG AS THEY ARE COMPANY PAID...and...
1) Yes, Dan Henneman told me in December 2004 to make my plans, that I was OUT OF THERE and yes, he LAUGHED at me at the Union Meeting...well guess who else personally assurred me I was OUT OF THERE...Daryl Peterson.
2) When I had to go to Daryl in February with an Unemployment Problem (holiday pay, my Steward ill informed me on)...I had asked Daryl, why he personally assurred me I would retire in February, that Buy-Outs would continue...Daryl, said...quote: "I DO want to see you get out here" I then said...WHY DID YOU TELL ME BUY-OUTS WOULD CONTINUE ON SCHEDULE...his reply why "that's what Dan Henneman said"...
3) The way Daryl blamed Dan...just seemed a WEAK AND LAME thing to do...I hope they're working well together...personally...I just don't see how...Dan needs help...
4) I NEVER knew Dan before he ran for Chairman, I saw him around, felt he had a STRONG presence; thinking I was almost home free out of Jeep, the younger seniority wanted Dan as their Chairman, I voted for him...
5) The Union reads Toledo Talk, I believe Dan taking to mind some of our Posts, he actually had told me he agreed with what some of us had to say about rotating some of the appointed positions...so let's keep talking...
6) Possibly you are RIGHT...maybe some people cannot handle being the Chairman...what does that leave us with? As poster myopinion stated...Daryl Peterson...
7) Cathersis, can Daryl handle the position?
8) I want you to know...I care very much as to what is happening to US our UNION...I am AFRAID, we need a BIG CHANGE and I have been thinking...aslong as we have a COMPANY PAID UNION...we are DOOMED...no matter who holds Chairman...
9) We need HELP...we all are worried as to our Future, I honestly would like to see Ron come back and help the Union out...they re-call Bosses out of retirement put them on special assignment...why not Ron?
10) You, Cathersis are very informed to Union's all's...your posts tell that...your posts also show you are very intelligent...
So...you tell me, tell us...what needs to be done...possibly...the union will take what you say to mind...as they are monitoring "Toledo Talk"
Please keep posting Cathersis, I do like what you have to say...

I have NEVER seen Henneman out on the floor in Body shop, NEVER. Maybe he gave you folks his cell phone number because he's at the bar instead of in the plant again. Today they posted 9.7 hours. Everyone wanted to know what the time period was that the company could force us to work 10 hours. Our regular steward is off, we asked the acting steward to contact Henneman to find out, of course we heard nothing.
If we had the contract books we were told we'd have in 30 days nearly 3 years ago, we could have looked it up ourselves.
I doubt we'll get contracts books any time soon, I don't think they WANT us to know all the details of what they agreed to.

- my opinion- 14 months is enough time to make policy changes, especially when you knew going in just what had to be done (you made campaign promises, didn't you?).
You and I share similar opinions of Daryl. While I have found him to be intelligent one-on-one, he doesn't seem to remember that he works FOR US! ALL OF US! REGARDLESS OF RACE, COLOR, or RELIGIOUS PREFERENCE! He is living this lifestyle of priviledge within the plant due to OUR VOTING HIM INTO OFFICE! And what the masses bestow upon thee can also be taken away. Hey, it happened once before.....
-deepthroat- Thanks for mentioning the contract books. I had actually forgotten about them. Sounds like a juicy question for the next union meeting.
-marielora- Here's a little story that, if I hadn't been there to see it, wouldn't have believed it:
At a union meeting about 8 years ago or so a girl got up and started complaining about her steward, Dan Henneman. It claims she was shafted on some kind of seniority issue but the funny part was how she ended it- " Things would be a lot better in the body shop if Dan Henneman would start thinking with his "Big" head instead of his "Little" one." This may give us all some insight into Dan's "work ethic."
Concerning the appointed jobs thing: I think it would be foolhardy to give jobs such as these to anyone other than your friends or political allies. To appoint an enemy to a position that gave them access to inside information, free run of both plants, and almost unlimited time to stab you in the back, would create chaos and accomplish little in my opinion. Still, some of these jobs such as insurance, workers comp, inverse coordinator, demand a fair amount of smarts and drive which appears to be lacking in some of the current job holders. Call with a question on medical insurance and the guy says to "call the customer service number on the back of your card." Hey, thats the job for me.
If the company were not paying the union reps then WE would have to. That would undoubtably lead to a dues increase which would then lead to limiting the overtime they can work. This in turn would cause a lot of good people NOT to seek a job in union service. Who would want all that stress without some type of increase in pay?
Intelligent? Thanks for the compliment. And to think all I had to do was release my inner "bitch" to make it happen. You want MY opinion as to what to do? That's going to require some thought. I don't get asked for my opinion very often so I want to make it worth your while. Not trying to sound like your favorite committeeman here but "I'll get back to you."
-jeepmaker- If you look back over time, the contract books never contain "everything" anyways- remember the shelf agreements? As far as your overtime issue goes, daily O.T. has to be posted (they can just tell the union) 3 hrs before the end of your shift. Saturday O.T. has to be posted 2 hrs before the end of the shift on Thursday (according to my neighbor- a former steward). If you get into this kind of a jam again just call the committee room @7390. Your reps will just "love it" that you made them look bad by going over their heads.

Hi Cathersis, It would be difficult for US to pay our Union Rep's.,still I cannot see how we truely have a UNION with the Company paying them...I feel we all work for the man that pays us...therfore, the Union works for the Company...It makes absolutely NO SENSE for the Company to pay Rep's. to fight THEM...I feel the Company agrees to pay their wages to have CONTROL of the PLANT...only...my thinking...
Agreed, Daryl Peterson is highly intelligent...yet...he lacks people skills...or...feels more comfortable interacting with minorities at Jeep...(that's my observation)...then...I could be all wrong about it...maybe...he's a "SHY AND BASHFUL GUY"!
I have heard...Dan Henneman is quite the Ladies Man around Jeep Corp., as I have also heard stories of other Committee Members...as I stated earlier, I NEVER knew him...saw him around...seemed to have a STRONG PRESENCE...voted for him as that was what the young seniority wanted...someone that would be there with them thru all these changes. (I felt it was all about them...I am almost OUT OF THERE).
Appointed Positions: Agreed many are in positions only because they are friends, have no qualifications...as I stated in an earlier post...the PQI Rep., we had at Stickney is one example of a "friend/relative". The Chairman would want "HIS PEOPLE"...but..."HIS PEOPLE" should be qualified...
Yes, I do believe you are very intelligent...your posts show this to be so...yes...make some suggestions as to what we can do...do you feel we should OUST Dan Henneman or give him a chanc? Daryl Peterson would be the CHAIRMAN...can Daryl handle the Position? Would he work for all of us? All races? So please...Cathersis, get back with us...(unlike our Committemen)! Do get back with us!
I'm Worried...we're in a BIG MESS at Jeep Corp., I CRIED when the International said "NO"...
Oh...a Poster suggested on another Jeep Topic...posted by Deepthroat...we Jeep Workers start our own Blog Site...it's FREE...I suggested WebSite...but...when other Posters suggested FREE sites we could use...there's Yahoo also...what you think...
Keep releasing your "Inner Bitch" and keep posting...

Appointed Positions...one more thought...Not only should the Chairman's People be qualified for the Positions...there have been Appointee's in Positions endlessly...shouldn't these Positions...be rev-vamped every couple years?

EVERYONE, Not that I feel all that is happening is about only me, yet, how about answering some of the points I have brought up?
marielora, you have over 28 years senority, you're almost out of there.
myopinion, you have said you have 27 years senority, you too are almost out of there.
so_you_think, you yourself said "you hope you can make it 3 more years", you're almost out of there.
JeepMaker, you have said too, you have over 28 years.
DEPTHROAT, how much longer do you have in there left?
Cathersis, what about you?
Me, I have 1985 senority, I haven't had a bid job in years, our leadership most of them have been in office since I hired, they all tell me how "lucky" I am to be holding first shift, c'mon, 20 years senority, no bid job and lucky?
I am worried what these Supplier Plants will NOT bring for me, meaning I may be laid off.
I am worried that the current KJ Body Shop and Paint may be sold off to Suppliers, we were talking about how those two buildings seems seperate from the rest of KJ Plant.
I am worried with this "loan" our leadership borrowed from the next contract's job bank and the gas prices also diesel isn't that cheap either, there may not be SUB left to collect should there be a slow down in the sales of these gas guzzelers we build.
Leadership? I want people in office that will be there through all these changes happening, I am more affected than many of the posters on the site, I have 10 years left. I don't want someone as our Vice Chairman with 35 years now, there 10 more with me, we need change, I want my senority in office.
I am worried there will not be PENSION left? How many ACTIVE EMPLOYEES are needed to pay PENSION?
