Bald Britney gets new tattoo - Britney, Head Shaved, Gets New Tattoo
Saturday, 17-Feb-2007 7:30PM EST Story from AP

Associated Press/AP Online
LOS ANGELES - Britney Spears appeared in a tattoo parlor in the San Fernando Valley with her head shaved completely bald.

Video on KABC-TV showed the newly shorn Spears with tiny tattoos on the back of her neck as she sits Friday night for a new tattoo - a pair of red and pink lips.

"She just wanted something real small on her wrist, something dainty," Max Gott, the tattoo artist at Body and Soul in Sherman Oaks, told the TV station. "She got some cute little lips on her wrist."

Derrik Snell, who works at the tattoo parlor, said Spears showed up without notice and stayed for about 90 minutes as about 60 fans, photographers and gawkers gathered outside.

"She seemed fine," Snell said. "I didn't really notice (the hairdo) at first, she had a hood on when she showed up."

The appearance came the same day as reports on TV and Web sites that Spears, who has drawn criticism for her recent partying and sloppy behavior, had briefly checked into rehab.

Larry Rudolph, Spears' manager, couldn't be reached for comment.

Syndicated entertainment TV show "Extra" first reported that Spears had entered a treatment facility. Celebrity Web site TMZ.com then said the singer had entered a treatment center but had checked out one day later. Neither revealed their sources.

People magazine's Web site, citing "a source," said Spears had gone in and out of rehab, and identified the facility as Eric Clapton's Crossroads center in Antigua, in the Caribbean.

"Access Hollywood" then said the reports weren't true, but didn't cite a source.

A woman who answered the phone at Crossroads told The Associated Press that she couldn't confirm or deny anyone's presence at the facility.

Angelique Uram, a Spears fan who stood on the tattoo parlor's sidewalk for Friday night's spectacle, was aghast at the singer's new look.

"We could see her in the mirror, and her head is

completely shaved," she told KABC. "It looks
terrible."

Police arrived to control the crowd and helped Spears' bodyguards guide her into a waiting SUV, her head covered by a hooded sweatshirt.

What a train wreck. It would be funny if there were not so many young girls who want to be like her. I don't want to even say she is white trash, because that is just insulting real white trash.

Is it just me, or don't you think it's kind of pathidic that we have become a nation of gossip watchers? I.E. " anna nicole smith" or who straped on a dipier to drive a cross country.

Maybe people watch these 'train wrecks' because 1) it's entertainment - after all, they are entertainers & put themselves out there to be watched. 2) makes people feel less like train wrecks themselves maybe 3) maybe people just feel a tiny bit of satisfaction seeing the 'in your face' rich & famous brought to their knees - humbled. Who knows? Most people give 'news' like this a passing glance & move on. I did kind of wonder if her binges & heavy partying were attempts to make up for lost time (spent with babies, a husband & a career put on the back burner)- to keep her face in the spotlight, lest we forget what a hot ticket she was. Maybe as a kind of anesthesia for what a cartoon her life has become. Maybe she just likes to party & drink hard. It's all speculation. But when she shaved her head, I couldn't help but wonder if it wasn't a sort of last ditch act out of desperation - a kind of shedding of the bad in her life, so to speak - symbolic? Probably reading too much into it - possibly just too binged out & went with a mood. Or, maybe in her drunk state she had the idea that if she copied Sinead O'Conner, she'd somehow come off as a type of rebel, or at least, grab the spotlight, snag some sympathy - hell it worked, didn't it? Got her in the spotlight again? (can't say about the sympathy - I find it kind of hard to feel any sympathy for anybody who's so wealthy & has it so easy & takes it all for granted, to hear how bad they got it). I'm no psychlogist - but I bet there's some out there who'd say it WAS a sort of psychological shedding, or cry for help. I think that's giving her too much credit - what she hopes people think maybe? I read an article years back that discussed how women tend to hide behind their hair - and to remove it all removes their protection. When Sinead O'Conner first came onto the scene it was outrageous that she had a shaved head. It was a kind of rebellious thumbing of the nose to society - this is who I am like it or not. Now, it's not a big deal when a woman shaves her head - unless you're somebody like B. Spears, then it's just out of character. I think she just wanted attention & would love it if people thought of her as a rebel. Sadly, I see her more as somebody very confused & bored about what they want to do with their hair. She dyed her hair dark not long ago,cut it short, etc. Like she ran out of ideas.

At least Natalie Portman shaved her head for a role in a movie. Britney's just crazy!

and NP got paid well for doing it for the movie. But people said how brave she was to do that, same adjective they used on Sinead O'Conner - brave. I'd think it would be a hard thing for a woman to do - you'd have to be pretty secure with yourself, or very drunk or high. Sadly, I think with B.Spears, it was more drunk than brave. But I think she hoped people would think "brave".

I think it would be better to use past tense there - girls wanted to be like her, at one time. But she has been far surpassed as the one little girls want to be like...unfortunately, there's a long like of undesireable "role models" who have swooped in to take her place (Paris Hilton, etc.). I wouldn't exactly call that an improvement. Yikes!

I am literally sitting at my computer watching Britney's hair be auctioned off on Ebay. I started watching at around $50,000, but it just now passed $250,000! There are some crazy people in the world.

Seems to me, if she did this to bring attention to herself - and was hoping the public would attach words like 'brave', or 'rebel' to her actions (as opposed to pathetic, stupid, burnt out, bordering breakdown) - she'd have done better by donating her shorn hair to that organization that creates wigs for kids who have cancer. I realize it was more likely listed on Ebay by a stander by or salon employee who scooped it up after the fact. Just a thought.

Here ya go starling!!

Ok, it's a spoof, but does show that you're definitely not the only person thinking that!!

It is kind of sad tho - I mean how long ago was it that she was just past her Mousketeer days, and on top of the world, touting how great it was to be a virgin?

Probably around Tom Cruise's pre-psycho years...

Ah how the great can tumble...

I see her as a very sad soul, and I wonder if she might have some post partum depression going on. I remember what having two babies close together did to me, and even though she doesn't have to take care of them like I did (she has handlers for that) she certainly has a lot of pressure on her to be young, skinny, and to pick up in her career where she left off. Adding a failed marriage to the mix and the fact that she grew up in the public eye- she probably doesn't know how to handle the pressures of life very well.

When I saw that picture I said "what a trainwreck" myself. Very sad girl there.

What a waste - the hair I mean.

Look what she should have done with it.

Holland, I agree with you. I grow my hair out and donate it about every two years - it is such a worthy cause. It is too bad that some good couldn't come of this situation.

MaumeeMom - What a wonderful gift that you give. Most women, and I am one of them, can't go six weeks without a visit to the hairdresser for a trim.

You should let your husband cut it. :-)

A search for Britney Spears hair on Ebay brings up about 40+ auctions - most are not for her hair. Some are, but aren't doing well, because they are obviously not her hair. What I don't get, is the one auction that is going crazy high is for a locket of very pale, blond hair - an extention. There's also one or two other identical auctions - identical photos - identical locket of hair/same color - not getting bids at all. Go figure. She dyed her hair dark, it was dark in the photo of her shaving her head - so who'd want a fake, blond extention (that they said in one auction at least was a fake extention) - it's not hair off her head. At any rate - I dont see any of them doing well, except for that one. And I highly doubt she's selling it herself.

mom2 - I kind of agree with you that she seems very sad. But I disagree at the analogy that she's been forced into the public eye her whole life - not true. She forced it herself. Wrecked marriage, 2 kids, no excuse. Even if she is suffering a bit of post partum depression, which I doubt, it's hard to feel sorry for somebody who can burn through the cash she has - I don't believe she's hurting for money to where she's gotta sell her hair on Ebay. The reason I doubt she's dealing with post partum depression is simply that her behaviour is out of character for that, I think. A handy excuse. One of my closest friends daughters took dance lessons with Britney when they were little girls - my friend has videos of Britney at dance recitals. But she'd never sell them on Ebay, would just be a tacky thing to do.

HeyHey, I'll let my husband cut my hair when he lets me trim his beard and mustache. :>p

MY mistake - my friend does NOT have video of her daughter in dance recitals as a child of Britney Spears - it is of Katie Holmes. Ooops.

The sad thing is...even though parents in America know this is usually how hollywood kids end up...they will still allow their kids and even push them into that life for the money and fame...

Do we know for a fact that britney's parents pushed her into this life for the fame & money? Britney always struck me as somebody who was gonna do whatever the hell she wanted to do. I don't think you can blame her parents, even if you go back to the Mouseketeer days.
