Chipolte hits Toledo!! Woo Hoo!! - And TODAY is free burrito day!!

January 23, 2007 - Adding a little spice to the Westgate Village Shopping Center is the new Chipotle Mexican Grill who will open it's doors for free burrito day between 11:00 this morning and 8:00 tonight.
The grand opening of the grill is slated for tomorrow. Chipotle is one of many new stores being welcomed to Westgate. They're expected to share their strip with Starbucks, Barry's Bagels, as well as the Fiesta Salon, which has already open it's doors.

Is the food any good? One is expected to open at Spring Meadows on Airport Hwy., sharing the former Cooker's building with a Panera's.

Holland, the food is really good! It is fresh and flavorful. I have been to the new one in Maumee many times. The line always looks long but it moves pretty quickly. Try it, you'll like it!

I've heard from friends who live in other cities that Chipoltle is good (as far as fast foodish type Mexican food goes). However, I have not personally eaten there.

Didn't realize that one was opening in Toledo. Wow...we're really moving up. :) Perhaps I'll have to try it out sometime.

Actually, I was happy as hell when Jimmy John's finally started coming to town. My first experience with Jimmy John's was over 10 years ago in college, and I was always so disappointed that there wasn't one locally. The #4 (Turkey Tom) is my favorite quick food ever. :) Guess its about time we got a Chipotle and some of the other places that are popular elsewhere too.

(Not that I don't appreciate sit down restaurants, of course - but there are times/circumstances where you need quick take out too.)

I was saddened when I had to leave my Chipoltle in Virginia behind. I was ecstatic when the one in Maumee opened up.

Now the only resteraunt from there I miss is 5 Guys. Which if anyone is in the MD, Norther VA area I recommend you find one. Best burgers I've EVER eaten.

The line was wayyyyyyyy too long for me to stand in. I don't have that patience. I hear they're good, I'll wait and pay for one.

i've been a chipotle fan for some time now. we lived in cincinnati when they opened up there as a test market.

anyhow, it's pretty good stuff. my wife and i eat there yesterday. it was an invitation deal and we were fortunate enough to get a few tickets/ coupons.

if you like guacomole, try it there. it's very good.

I go to school in Dayton and there is a Chipotle across the street from my university. It is VERY good and I go there at least twice a week. I have been waiting for one to come to Toledo and I must say that I am extremely happy they are there now because I am graduating in May and the next closest Chipotle would have been in BG or Detroit. I won't lie, I have driven all the way to Detroit to have a burrito, they are just that good.

I got off work yesterday at 4pm, and was passing by Westgate on my way to the dentist.

The line was so long it made me laugh out loud! If you get to westgate, the building is a long one that faces South - toward where Barry Bagel's was...

The line was out the door and around the building going North, and all the way down the sidewalk and spilling out into the parking lot, almost to Central ave!!

Im with the gang - Chipolte is good, but how much is your time worth to stand in line for 2 hours to get a free $5 burrito??!!?? A great one or not!!?? I'll be a regular customer, but in a few weeks - after the hub bub has worn off...

The crowds will eventually die down. The BG location is still packed at lunch and dinner time and it has been open since late summer. I was at the Maumee location for dinner last night... unfortunately, the chicken was way too salty but that was the first bad burrito bol I've ever had.

The nutrition calculator is fun... but with Chipotle's portions, it's definintely not diet food. It's almost as bad as a McDonald's combo meal. But it tastes so good it's hard not to eat the whole thing.

Enjoy Toledo!!!!

The wife and I have been to the Maumee store more than once since it opened. Love the food, when you consider the size of those burritos, it's pretty good for the price. Now I'm really in trouble, because the Westgate one is closer to work.

Now with Holland getting one too... I'm glad that I didn't make the usual "lose weight" resolution this year. :)

I went to westgate chipotle for lunch today and was in and out in 20 minutes (granted, it was about 1:15). My rule is that if the line's not out the door, it's worth the wait.

I just missed ya Junta. I was there about at about 2:15. I got a chicken burrito with black beans, rice, and some spicy salsa. I ate every bit of it, and enjoyed it greatly! The line was to the entrance when I got there, but with 8 or 10 employees going full speed the line moved along rather nicely.

Don't forget, you can order online and go pick it up. Then you can just walk up to that little window off to the side, get your stuff, and go. Best thing EVER.

question - do they take credit cards or are they more like a fast-food type? We're thinking about getting a whole bunch of goodies for a party...

Yes, they take credit card, but not discover.

Yes they take credit cards, and our office ordered a ton of stuff yesterday. The girl handling things faxed in the whole order, and when she got there, she just walked straight to the cash register, paid for it all, and was handed a box full of food.

When we got it here at work, not only was everything there, but each burrito was labled with the name of the person it belonged to -

EXCELLENT service!!

Found at digg (275 comments), this Business Week story titled Chipotle: Fast Food with 'Integrity'. "Steve Ells, founder of the red-hot Mexican-food chain, on his aim to make the focused menu as all-natural as possible, and why it's worth the expense."
