Big Brother, Toledo Blade page 3 top right. scans every license plate - So much for the bill of rights. Blade, page 3 top right. New cameras scan every plate that goes by the cop car, compares it to database, misdemeanor crimes will now result in a felony stop I'm sure. I'd like to hear from law enforcemnt on this issue. How do you weigh the use of this plate scanning technology, vs the constitutional rights which we all are entitled. The Bill of Rights seems to have slipped away from us completely. Thanks to wrong wing courts. And could someone tell me why we don't pledge to the constitution and bill of rights. Perhaps had the pledge mentioned such, maybe people would know more about them. When you go to court these days, the prosecutor wants to hang you, the judge wants to hang you, and if you aren't rich, your public defender will simply LET you hang,, unless your case is high profile and can win him some real clients due to the press.

Toledo Meeting in Second Life - There was a post a while back about Second Life and possible having people from Toledo meeting there for fun. I just installed it tonight, and a little confused over it's concept. It's a nifty world of sorts, but not sure how to get off "Orientation Island" no way to specify a server or meeting place.

Michigan following Ohio to a state-wide smoking ban. - I'm curious as to how Lucas County bar and restaurant owners feel about the possibility. Will it help business? Or does the nanny state syndrome make it worthy to appose smoking bans everywhere?

Old Line Republican warns America, police state - 2nd republican in 3 days to "Paul Revere" to us that the neocons are going to allow or create a terrorist attack. Keep in mind these are the folks that believe they should make biblical prophecy come true, the battle to end all battles, the return of Jesus, the end of 99.999999999999% of mankind. War with Iran, and using the constitution, referred to as a "g-damned piece of paper" as toitee paper. Of course they have a 150 "graduates" of Pat Robertsons "law school" to help pave the way.
These are the guards at Jonestown, who gave the choice of a bullet, or a nice drink of Kool Aid.

Help me understand - Why is it such a travesty of justice that a person be requested to show a photo ID when voting? (This is in regards to a current uproar in Michigan, not Ohio.) - More>>

Generation Chickenhawk: the Unauthorized College Republican Convention Tour - On July 13, 2007, I visited Section 60 of Arlington National Cemetery, where the bodies of American soldiers killed in Iraq were freshly interred. Afterwards, I headed across the street to the Sheraton National Hotel, owned by right-wing Korean cult leader Sun Myung-Moon, to meet some of the war's most fervent supporters at the College Republican National Convention. - More>>

Should we be demanding more? - I heard an interesting question put out on WSPD the other morning: It's been 40 years ago now that we put a man on the moon. With all the technological advances we've had in just about every aspect of our lives, wouldnt you expect a greater change in the mileage that our cars use? - More>>

Strippers at local political fund-raiser - "A golf outing for the Lucas County Democratic Party landed in the rough after outraged elected officials saw strippers liberally volunteering at the party's annual fund-raiser. Domenic Montalto, the executive director, initially pleaded ignorance. But after learning of Mr. Kemp's comments about the strip clubs' participation, Mr. Montalto changed his answer to "No comment." It's all about who you know, or who you're taking the fall for... - Not that this comes as much of a surprise, but I had hoped that, just once, justice would rest on nothing more than the law. My mistake.

Ron Paul Excluded from Iowa DebateShare - Ron Paul Excluded from Iowa DebateShare

There is a lot of weight behind this story. I called both organizations today to ask why Paul was being excluded. One allowed the phone to continue ringing and the other had a busy signal the entire evening. Convenient.

Bassett Market Closes - Business is business, and if a business needs to close for economic reasons, that's understandable. BUT, when an employing business is so insensitive that it does not give employees adequate notice so that they may transition with some preparation and instead thinks nothing of disrupting the lives of families, I say never shop at any business that the owners of that business may otherwise have in other locations or may open in the future.

Michael Gloomturd announces he's leaving repugnants(laying groundwork for prez race) - It's been rumored for months, this tells me he's doing it. Christ, this is really getting confusing.Remember, this assclown has over seven billion dollars, so spending a billion or so is nothing to him. Think ross perot a bit more serious. I see him hurting the dims more than the repugs, but....in this day and age of 'I love Nannyism/Nazism/Let the State take care of me, they know best" mentality....who knows? There are people out there like the rabid smoker-haters , the food police, and gun-haters who'd vote for him in a second-and then call themselves 'conservative'..

Why not let art students paint fire hydrants? - My friend & I went antiquing last weekend, near Lansing, Mich. and we noticed what they're doing with their fire hydrants. There was a man painting one to look like a dalmnation dog, others had been all painted differently & many were so wonderfully done, whimsical, patriotic, artsy, etc. I thought that it may be a neat idea for Toledo to do something like that - but to open it up to high school art students, give each student a hydrant to paint as they pleased (with approval of course). What do you think?
