Why I hate unions - I cant speak for any one else, but my opinions are forged by personal experience by me and my family members. There are a lot of folks out here like Jeepbm who take exception to my issues with unions, not that I really care, but at least let me take the time to explain how I came to feel this way - seeing as how both my parents were union members: - More>>

Minneapolis bridge collapse - Seems especially eerie to me b/c a friend just told me the other day that she's still afraid to drive over the new I-280 bridge...not because she has a fear of heights, but because she's terrified of drowning. - More>>

Restaurant bites Dust - Plea from Bar Owner-Poker Run - This just in from Smokersrights in Ohio about ban damage -
My name is Bob Ebbing, my wife and I own Sure Shots (bar /lounge ) in
Kettering Ohio. We have been hit very hard by the new law banning
smoking. I saw where Kelley's Corner in Belmont had to close due to
this new law . I grew up with David Angie who's parents owned and
operated this restaurant / bar for many years, it is a shame to see
it close because of the many self righteous people who think we
should live the way they want us to, and tell us how to live in a
FREE COUNTRY. in the past two weeks our bar has been a factor in two
poker runs for two different women who have cancer. the first one
raised over $12000.00 the second one raised almost $15000.00. we had
over 200 motorcycle owners and riders at each event.
as a group of people who band together when help is needed,
unselfishely helping others in need , it was brought up that we need
to organized a SMOKERS RIGHTS POKER RUN to show everyone in Ohio just
how unfair this law is, and that we as voters were mis-lead by the
wording of this law that we had to vote for. my wife and I have
talked to many of our fellow bikers and they feel the same. with your
support we could organize a lot of the bikers groups to help get our
message out by being on the television and or newspaper coverage. we
would be willing to do anything that needs to be done to organize
this, and with your help, to get the word out we could possibly make
this a state wide event. many groups of bikers will help show their
support for our right's as free American's, and help us to not lose
any more right's to the self rightous people who want to tell us how
we as free American's should do as they say. if you think this is
worth a try please contact me (bob ebbing ) at
(937)657-8327 any help or input would be greatly appreciated. I feel
we could get a lot a signatures and raise much needed fund for our
cause thru this effort.

Big Brother, Toledo Blade page 3 top right. scans every license plate - So much for the bill of rights. Blade, page 3 top right. New cameras scan every plate that goes by the cop car, compares it to database, misdemeanor crimes will now result in a felony stop I'm sure. I'd like to hear from law enforcemnt on this issue. How do you weigh the use of this plate scanning technology, vs the constitutional rights which we all are entitled. The Bill of Rights seems to have slipped away from us completely. Thanks to wrong wing courts. And could someone tell me why we don't pledge to the constitution and bill of rights. Perhaps had the pledge mentioned such, maybe people would know more about them. When you go to court these days, the prosecutor wants to hang you, the judge wants to hang you, and if you aren't rich, your public defender will simply LET you hang,, unless your case is high profile and can win him some real clients due to the press.

Polish Festival - Just wanted to post a comment on how wonderful of a time I had at the polish festival this past Friday night. Everyone working was so nice, and the crowd down there was really great. Lot's of older people in the polka tent, and wandering around the festival. Really made me realize why I love Toledo so much. Great event Toledo!

People are stupid! - So I stopped at a gas station for my weekly 6-pack of Bud Select. As I walked to the door I noticed a running car with its windows down . The closer I got I noticed a baby, maybe 2 at the most in a baby seat in the back. With nobody else in the car. I walked into the station and there was a girl at the window buying something that must have been awfully important. She had long blonde hair with pink streaks in it and when she turned around she had one of those cute little (sarcasm) piercings in her cheek. I said "That has got to be the dumbest thing I have ever seen" And she says "What?" WHAT! I said "Do you have a baby in that car by itself?" She turned and left. What is wrong with people? Seriously, I wish a cop would have showed up a few minutes before that. This has to be illegal right? Not even sure why I am posting this, but it literally had me shaking I was so mad. Is there something else I should have done?

Top 10 Best Communities in Lake Erie West - Another pointless top-something list, although this one has a local angle. Saline is ranked #1. Shockingly, Toledo didn't make the Top 10. A couple of communities on the list seem questionable to me, no offense to those communities. Here's the list: - More>>

I am looking for a little guidance with my preteen - My 11 year old daughter is a great kid, but lately whenever I discipline her about the simplest thing, she goes into a crying meltdown. When I say discipline, I mean talk to her about her actions, she is never spanked and at the most sent to her room for 15 min., but usually just verbally reprimanded. Is this normal behavior? As I said, she really is a great kid, but is this something I should seek professional help for?

Government has some money to give back - From a Jul 11, 2007 Wade Kapszukiewicz blog posting: "If you are planning on attending the Lagrange Street-Polish Festival this weekend, be sure to seek out the booth staffed by members of the Treasurer's office. Among other useful information, my staff will have a hard-copy print-out of the roughly 125,000 Lucas County residents who are owed money by the state of Ohio. Most of the people on the list don't even know it, including the family who learned this week that it is owed $277,000 in unclaimed funds! So feel free to look for us this summer, or just visit this link on our website to see if you are one of the lucky Lucas County residents entitled to get some money BACK from the government!"

Is Webb just trying to get elected? - For those of you who are not aware Lindsay Webb is running for the Toledo City Council, District 6 seat this November. Up front, I really do not know much about her and we have never personally met although I'm sure she is a pleasant person.

Her website says that she is Point Place Homeowner & 3rd Generation Resident and has a Law Degree from the University of Toledo. In addition, she is an Employment Law Specialist & Advocate for Dislocated Workers and a member of the United Auto Workers (UAW), AFL-CIO.
