New version of Toledo Talk

Topics with comments by "jmleong"

That's a wrap on Toledo Talk v1.0 - Commenting will be allowed on existing topics here for another week. This app served its purpose for 4.5 years, but I think a little more functionality is needed now, and the new version of Toledo Talk will provide that. I've been using the new version for quite a while. Some aspects of the new version may be confusing for some because of the wiki capabilities, but in other ways, it may be simpler to use.

Minneapolis bridge collapse - Seems especially eerie to me b/c a friend just told me the other day that she's still afraid to drive over the new I-280 bridge...not because she has a fear of heights, but because she's terrified of drowning. - More>>

KidProof Paint @ The Andersons - I just purchased a couple of gallons of paint from The Andersons in Maumee. I purchased two gallons of Kidproof paint by Majic. The paint is supposed to be a new ceramic bead technology and extremely durable. The paint went on very smooth and the room came out awesome. It comes in nearly fifteen hundred colors the lady told me. They have both "Kid" colors and "contempory normal" colors. I was very impressed with the service I got at the store and the price of the paint was reasonably priced at $14.99 a gallon. She said the full price is $19.99, whcih is still very reasonable. - More>>

GEICO caveman to get his own series this fall - This apparently is not a joke, as I've heard it several times now at different sources. A lot of you are probably groaning right now, but I think it's great. I've just got a gut feeling that this is another low-fanfare program that just may turn out to be a runaway smash comedy hit in the tradition of the Beverly Hillbillies-taking a ridiculous premise and treating it as reality. The last one I remember was DAVE'S WORLD, which I also loved, and it was in the top tier of shows for several years , until some swine at the network deliberately killed it by moving the show around to different nights of the week and pre-empting it constantly for specials that sucked. This will all depend on the writers, of course, but if they get really good ones, I predict this'll be the next big thing. I'm looking forward to a TV series for the first time in YEARS-and a sitcom, at that.

Seeking Dog Help - I bought a pooch from the Tiffin pound about 3 or so weeks ago. At first he seemed really love able and good. Though my girlfriend and I are at wits end, trying to figure out what to do. This is really my first dog and I love him, but I dont want to have to give him up without at least trying my best first. - More>>

Advice needed - I've finally gotten with the times and sprung for an MP.3 device. My daughter is bugging me to fill it with music but I am a bit overwhelmed in finding the best source. My question to all of you is- Where is the best place to download music? Are there any safe, free websites for this? Where do you all go for yours?

Reason For Business Not Locating in NWO.... - I and a few others have said in the past one of the reasons why the Toledo area loses and fails to gain new businesses is because of the lack of air service to the region. I'm not saying the sole reason for businesses not relocating to the region is this, but it is definitely a big factor. And now, it is actually been stated in this article - More>>

In need of some quiet R&R. - All of our vacations in recent years have either been NASCAR or treks (Europe, Middle East, South America, China). The treks were great but tiring. NASCAR is short and can be tiring. What I desperately need is a quiet cottage rental where the fishing (row boat style) is good. What's out there within a days drive or less? Primitive is not only OK, but preferred. Running water and inside "facilities" are the only basics we would want - cable TV, phone service, internet, not wanted.

Municipal Light Rail System for Toledo? - At first glance I really liked the idea. I can see the energy-saving benefits, the reduced costs to me(Average Citizen), the creation of jobs and the business opportunities that would potentially feed off of the stations. I like the idea of hopping on the train to go to work every day instead of battling expressway traffic, (The fact that I'm driving less would lower my insurance costs, too. Wouldn't it?).
I've never lived in one of the bigger cities with rail transit. Can any of you enlighten me as to the pros and cons?
