That's a wrap on Toledo Talk v1.0 - Commenting will be allowed on existing topics here for another week. This app served its purpose for 4.5 years, but I think a little more functionality is needed now, and the new version of Toledo Talk will provide that. I've been using the new version for quite a while. Some aspects of the new version may be confusing for some because of the wiki capabilities, but in other ways, it may be simpler to use.

Minneapolis bridge collapse - Seems especially eerie to me b/c a friend just told me the other day that she's still afraid to drive over the new I-280 bridge...not because she has a fear of heights, but because she's terrified of drowning.

WTOL website smoking ban poll - WTOL 6 pm news told of a 'tell us what you think of the smoking ban' poll on their website. Hard to find (lower left side), and only allows a simple 'yes' or 'no' - no comments allowed, no results shown (why am I surprised?)

Big Brother, Toledo Blade page 3 top right. scans every license plate - So much for the bill of rights. Blade, page 3 top right. New cameras scan every plate that goes by the cop car, compares it to database, misdemeanor crimes will now result in a felony stop I'm sure. I'd like to hear from law enforcemnt on this issue. How do you weigh the use of this plate scanning technology, vs the constitutional rights which we all are entitled. The Bill of Rights seems to have slipped away from us completely. Thanks to wrong wing courts. And could someone tell me why we don't pledge to the constitution and bill of rights. Perhaps had the pledge mentioned such, maybe people would know more about them. When you go to court these days, the prosecutor wants to hang you, the judge wants to hang you, and if you aren't rich, your public defender will simply LET you hang,, unless your case is high profile and can win him some real clients due to the press.

GEICO caveman to get his own series this fall - This apparently is not a joke, as I've heard it several times now at different sources. A lot of you are probably groaning right now, but I think it's great. I've just got a gut feeling that this is another low-fanfare program that just may turn out to be a runaway smash comedy hit in the tradition of the Beverly Hillbillies-taking a ridiculous premise and treating it as reality. The last one I remember was DAVE'S WORLD, which I also loved, and it was in the top tier of shows for several years , until some swine at the network deliberately killed it by moving the show around to different nights of the week and pre-empting it constantly for specials that sucked. This will all depend on the writers, of course, but if they get really good ones, I predict this'll be the next big thing. I'm looking forward to a TV series for the first time in YEARS-and a sitcom, at that.

Think a water bar would fly in Toledo? - 80 types of bottled water that ranges anywhere from $30-$55 a bottle? At first I thought I was reading an article from the Onion or something, but nope...this is a real place.

Advice needed - I've finally gotten with the times and sprung for an MP.3 device. My daughter is bugging me to fill it with music but I am a bit overwhelmed in finding the best source. My question to all of you is- Where is the best place to download music? Are there any safe, free websites for this? Where do you all go for yours?

Strippers at local political fund-raiser - "A golf outing for the Lucas County Democratic Party landed in the rough after outraged elected officials saw strippers liberally volunteering at the party's annual fund-raiser. Domenic Montalto, the executive director, initially pleaded ignorance. But after learning of Mr. Kemp's comments about the strip clubs' participation, Mr. Montalto changed his answer to "No comment." News coverage of tonight's storm - The storm(s) that rolled through around dinnertime tonight produced some thunder, lightning and somewhat heavy rain. At 6:30, Channel 11 was still on the air with special coverage. I turned to Channel 13 and they weren't covering it, the national news was on. I don't know how long 11 was on with the coverage because I turned it off. Now come on - this was your typical storm that pops up during the summer in muggy weather. Now I suppose WTOL will be on the air with commercials tomorrow saying how they were the only channel to provide special coverage. I am getting so tired of it! Anybody else with me?

Looking for fresh milk - I don't mean from the store or the fridge either.
As a kid I remember visiting my Uncle in the country and we always took empty bottles with us because we would always visit a local dairy and get milk fresh from the tap, the cream rosle to the top (it was pasturized). So, does anybody here know where one can buy milk directly from the dairy?

Bridge Opening Security - As I sit and listen to the radio traffic surrounding the opening of the Veterans Glass City Skyway Bridge, I question the 'ultra-high security measures' being taken for this event. This just isn't normal!
