Central city project delay - "Toledo leaders allocated $270 thousand of your money to build townhouses in the Central City. Now one year after Mayor Carty Finkbeiner trumpeted the project, there's still nothing but an empty lot. The politicians insist it will be built. But the developer is nowhere to be found."

Airport Committee Meeting Minutes - I was just wondering if there was a place the Port Authority posts minutes from their meetings? I am specifically looking for the Airport Committee meeting minutes as I am unable to attend the once monthly meetings and would like to know what is discussed.

People are stupid! - So I stopped at a gas station for my weekly 6-pack of Bud Select. As I walked to the door I noticed a running car with its windows down . The closer I got I noticed a baby, maybe 2 at the most in a baby seat in the back. With nobody else in the car. I walked into the station and there was a girl at the window buying something that must have been awfully important. She had long blonde hair with pink streaks in it and when she turned around she had one of those cute little (sarcasm) piercings in her cheek. I said "That has got to be the dumbest thing I have ever seen" And she says "What?" WHAT! I said "Do you have a baby in that car by itself?" She turned and left. What is wrong with people? Seriously, I wish a cop would ...

Impeach Lepkowski - Always smiling and telling people to "start packing." Then trying to sell their home out from underneath of them. No one tells him to start packing and then sells their home. That's simply impolite. The welcome mat is not legally binding. When did Dan get powers of eminent domain?

Government has some money to give back - From a Jul 11, 2007 Wade Kapszukiewicz blog posting: "If you are planning on attending the Lagrange Street-Polish Festival this weekend, be sure to seek out the booth staffed by members of the Treasurer's office. Among other useful information, my staff will have a hard-copy print-out of the roughly 125,000 Lucas County residents who are owed money by the state of Ohio. Most of the people on the list don't even know it, including the family who learned this week that it is owed $277,000 in unclaimed funds! So feel free to look for us this summer, or just visit this link on our website to see if you are one of the lucky Lucas County residents entitled to get some money BACK from the government!"

Help Identifying an Instrumental Song for the Mid 1970s - This is kind of a stupid request, but I am desperate. Any of you ever listen to Bob Kelley on WCWA in the mid 1970s? Even though the theme was mostly pop music he would sometimes play a very nice, peaceful instrumental peace that had just a touch of choral in it. Kind of a dreamy piece of music. Do any of you recall what the name of this piece was and who the artist was? I have been looking for it for decades with no luck.

Poor Toledo Edison/First Energy Service? - How many of you are unhappy with the service from Toledo Edison? Their crew was out several months ago and told me they had to cut down a tree because it was ready to topple on a power line. No one ever showed up and 4 non-returned phone calls later I still have not gotten a follow up. This concerns me because I remember the VERY inconvenient power outages due to poor maintenance we have had since 2001. I just wondered if this poor response was typical?

Loud Harleys!!! - I love motorcycles and enjoy bikers but at 5:30 AM my neighbor fires up his Harley and I can hear him drive away for blocks. Iím talking about some seriously loud and unnecessary noise. Iím not for restrictions but dang, arenít they liable for the same noise restrictions as car stereos?

Does anyone know about tenant rights in Ohio? - Or can you direct me to some informational sites? I have a friend who just told me that their landlord forbids them to have air conditioners and there is no central air in these townhouses. This strikes me as not just cruel, but perhaps illegal. Thanks for any help.

Mapping City of Toledo properties that are for sale - Karen Shanahan, District 2 Toledo City Council candidate, has on her blog a link to a Google Docs spreadsheet Web page that lists over 800 City of Toledo properties for sale as of December 2006. BTW, this Google spreadsheet is a nice example of using available Web services to inform the public. Anyway, I parsed the spreadsheet and sent the street address info for each property to geocoder.us to get the longitude and latitude coordinates. These coordinates are used in Google Maps to map the locations of the properties.

Foreign bank account scam - now by US postal mail. I've been getting those e-mails for ages, but was quite surprised to get a letter in the mailbox this morning addressed to my husband and me. Someone with our last name passed away in 1999 leaving no heirs and an account with $15.5 million, blah, blah, blah. You guys know the drill.

Toledo Solar Light Bandits - In the last three days someone has gone through our neighborhood and stolen all the decorative solar lights from yards.

Give me a reason, I dare you... - I'm in the market for my first home but I'm not sure whether or not to consider property in the Toledo city limits. (I work near the Old Orchard area so I'd like to live within a short drive if possible.)

Filing Complaint for Ignoring 'Do Not Call' Registry - Well, the Toledo Blade is at it again. They've called me twice even though my number is on the DoNotCall registry. They're calling from that 866 number that was discussed earlier on this forum. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of answering one of the calls so I know it's the Blade.

Where to Donate Used Computers - For the past several years our company has donated it's excess computer equipment to the Cherry Street Mission. We don't take junk. All equipment is throughly vetted by Virtual PC's just prior to donation, the hard drive wiped, a licensed copy of Windows XP is reinstalled and all documentation, warranty info and software registration is included. The last two batches of stuff were wireless ready. I know that donation is supposed to be selfless but geez, they don't even say "thank you" let alone give you a receipt. As we look at another round of replacements coming up this year is there any other agency that can use this equipment?

Toys for Tots Contacts? - Every year, my boyfriend and I host a holiday open house where we ask people to bring a new, unwrapped toy to donate to Toys for Tots. Every year, because of my work schedule, we host this party AFTER the toys are distributed for that year. So, basically, the toys we collect get distributed the following year.

Houses cheaper than cars in Detroit - "After selling house after house in the Motor City for less than the $29,000 it costs to buy the average new car, the auctioneer tried a new line: "The lumber in the house is worth more than that! Folks, the ground underneath the house goes with it. You do know that, right?" As Detroit reels from job losses in the U.S. auto industry, the depressed city has emerged as a boomtown in one area: foreclosed property."

What does this street sign mean? - This morning on my way up Cherry to St. V's I was stopped for the light at Erie and noticed a little sign on the light pole. It said, "Weed and Seed Community" and was posted by the City. What is this about?

Toledo area transportation plan - Last Friday, I attended the mid-day meeting at the downtown library where TMACOG presented its "On the Move 2007-2035 Transportation Plan" for public comment. Five more public meetings are scheduled over the next week. Unfortunately, the slide show presentation is not on the TMACOG site. A few of the slides were enlarged and on display in the meeting room, along with several maps. On the TMACOG Web site, you can access the projects, innitiatives, and policies PDF files, which were given to meeting attendees. The presenters had a couple interesting things to say about Perrysburg.

Mercy Health Group Customer Service - The Mercy Health Group (St. V's St. Charles, St. Anne, etc.) are know for their good medical care. It is a multimillion dollar operation. When it comes to their Customer
Service Department they could use some lessons! Their hours are weekdays from 8:30 to
4:20 with an HOUR OFF for lunch. An hour closed for lunch!!--who ever heard of such
a thing in this day and age? Our local hardware has better customer service than that. Oh
well, only in Toledo! Comments?

"Oldies"radio stations - With about 20% of the local population 60 or older I would think a good "oldies music" station would do well in this area. Are there any besides AM 580 or 93.5?
