Toledo Meeting in Second Life - There was a post a while back about Second Life and possible having people from Toledo meeting there for fun. I just installed it tonight, and a little confused over it's concept. It's a nifty world of sorts, but not sure how to get off "Orientation Island" no way to specify a server or meeting place.

Vote "Not Sure" - I read the Blade on-line. I read the polls they post at the bottom of the page every day. Why is it that soooo many people vote "Not Sure." How in the hell can you not have an opinion on such simple questions. For example, today's question:

GEICO caveman to get his own series this fall - This apparently is not a joke, as I've heard it several times now at different sources. A lot of you are probably groaning right now, but I think it's great. I've just got a gut feeling that this is another low-fanfare program that just may turn out to be a runaway smash comedy hit in the tradition of the Beverly Hillbillies-taking a ridiculous premise and treating it as reality. The last one I remember was DAVE'S WORLD, which I also loved, and it was in the top tier of shows for several years , until some swine at the network deliberately killed it by moving the show around to different nights of the week and pre-empting it constantly for specials that sucked. This will all depend on the writers, of course, but if they get really good ones, I predict this'll be the next big thing. I'm looking forward to ...

Polish Festival - Just wanted to post a comment on how wonderful of a time I had at the polish festival this past Friday night. Everyone working was so nice, and the crowd down there was really great. Lot's of older people in the polka tent, and wandering around the festival. Really made me realize why I love Toledo so much. Great event Toledo!

In need of some quiet R&R. - All of our vacations in recent years have either been NASCAR or treks (Europe, Middle East, South America, China). The treks were great but tiring. NASCAR is short and can be tiring. What I desperately need is a quiet cottage rental where the fishing (row boat style) is good. What's out there within a days drive or less? Primitive is not only OK, but preferred. Running water and inside "facilities" are the only basics we would want - cable TV, phone service, internet, not wanted.

Come to Sandusky Ohio for Bike Week - If you've not been to Bike Week in Sandusky, Ohio . . . it is a great time. It's been going on all week and will wrap up on Sunday.
The traveling "Wall" that replicates the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall (Washington, DC) is also on display in downtown Sandusky on the grounds of the Erie County Courthouse. I took our boys there today and it was a very moving experience.

OK-NOW you can feel old..R.I.P. Bobby 'Boris' Pickett - NEW YORK (AP) -- He does the "Monster Mash" no more. Bobby "Boris" Pickett, whose dead-on Boris Karloff impression propelled the Halloween anthem to the top of the charts in 1962, making him one of pop music's most enduring one-hit wonders, has died of leukemia. He was 69.

Do you Twitter? - Seems like this "micro-blogging" tool has received more than its 15 minutes of fame. I see a lot of fellow PR/comms bloggers on it, but what about the normal public? Any Twitterites in the Toledo area?
