Passion movie with mixed reviews - Ebert and Roeper give it two thumps up. "This is the most powerful, important and by far the most graphic interpretation of Christ's final hours ever put on film. Mel Gibson is a masterful storyteller. I hope people will see this movie for themselves and then judge. I don't think the movie is anti-Semitic." Another critic says, "... a sickening death trip; surpassingly violent narrative; falls in danger of altering Jesus' message of love into one of hate; one of the cruelest movies in the history of cinema; The movie Gibson has made from his personal obsessions is a sickening death trip, a grimly unilluminating procession of treachery, beatings, blood and agony; like a graveyard horror flick; in its confused way, confirms the old justifications for persecuting the Jews." As if violence is new to Hollywood.

New sex-offender warning system - By next week, Lucas County residents will be able to log onto the Internet and receive e-mail and postcard alerts when a sex offender moves into the neighborhood. There's already a searchable database that allows for lookups in any Ohio county. For example, there are 20 sex offenders living in Perrysburg. The web app displays the offender's name, age, home and work address, type of offense, sometimes a picture, and other info. The new system, being tested in Lucas County, will automate the alerts.
