Cars blamed for obesity - Well, why not? Absurdity shadows most news stories about obesity. Move over Cable TV and doughnuts, cars are the current trendy cause of obesity. The Motor City is America's fattest city. "This just may be the moment when we acknowledge the culprit in the battle of the bulge has more than a giant maw. It has four wheels. The Detroit Moment must delight the public health gurus [freaks] who agree the car is a major ingredient in the incredible growing American, on an enemies list right beside Big Macs. We could slap warning labels on cars saying: This Vehicle Will Make You Fat." I guess SUVs are off the hook. I'm not sure, but I think this was actually a serious column.

Tired of hearing about the 1960's? - "I think I speak for millions when I say that I am deathly sick of the counterculture sixties. The music, the war, the protests, all the hagiography - it's not a reflection of the eraís importance but the self-importance of the generation who hung on the bus as it trundled along down the same old rutted road of history. Iím tired of hearing about the boomersí days of whine and neuroses; Iím weary of ritual genuflection to their musical icons; Iím utterly disinterested in most of the pop-cult trivia they hold so dear. Weíll probably be better off when that demographic pig has been excreted from the python so we can see the era clearly without choking on the smoke."
