Is Maggie Thurber our former friend "intrepid"? - You know, for almost six months now, the rumors around town have been pretty thick with the idea that a former prolific member of this website, "intrepid", was actually Lucas County Commissioner Maggie Turber.

Jackson's Restaurant - I just read an article about Jackson's restauant, the problems they're having - sounds like no customers, no chef on board. When we were looking for a restaurant last weekend, I called that restaurant to see if they had a smoking section, of course they did not, so we didn't bother. Then I see that article and I wonder, maybe take a clue??

Non-Smoking fanatics - There have been several letters/editorials in the Blade and The Free Press lately whining again, ad nauseum, about wanting Toledo to be smoke free, and why can't the smokers just 'go outside'. Also the commercials/ads about how second hand smoke 'kills you and children' (name one child) grate on my nerves because the studies I have read, conflict with those comments. It has been my observation, that there are far more restaurants in Toledo, that do NOT have smoking sections, then those that do. And STILL the non smokers are not happy. And if they DO offer a smoking section, it is usually in the bar, on very high tables/stools (uncomfortable, difficult for me to sit/climb on), or a chilly patio. Just recently we were downtown for the auto show, and were looking for a restauant for dinner. We haven't gone to many restaurants downtown, so it was a crap shoot. ...

NBC24 Reports New Tenant for One Seagate - NBC24's Kevin Milliken is reporting by way of Bob Frantz's "Eye on Toledo" that there is a promising deal regarding One Seagate. If this deal goes through then 5/3 Bank would move to One Seagate and occupy most of the floors available. 5/3 is also talking about moving 100 additional jobs to Toledo from other areas.

Can people in this town drive any slower? - I moved here from Detroit years ago and I LOVE Toledo. I love the parks, the institutions and the people are some of the friendliest in the country.

Cartoon Violence - Kind of surprised no one has opened a dialogue on Toledo Talk about the violence inspired by the Mohammad cartoons.

NBC 24 gets it wrong! - In the 11:00pm news last night reporter Lisa McCrady make a glaring error in the center piece of her reporting. The location for the crime, which she reported so prominently as the Village of Holland, was actually in Springfield Township. The Village of Holland geographically does not encompass all of the area that the U.S. Postal Service designates a Holland, Ohio mailing address. I'll bet the Village is going to be plenty steamed! I believe that a retraction, if that is what you do with TV reporting mistakes, is in order. Lisa McCrady owes the Village of Holland a big apology. It should be a black mark on her career.
