The Editors . . . Issue 4 - This morning I met fellow Issue 4 supporter Jacob Evans and taped a Blade sponsored show called The Editors. The show airs Friday night at 9:00 and again at 2:30 Saturday am. It will also be broadcast by WBGU on Sunday at 12:30 in the afternoon.

No more Party Poker - What a drag. Tonight I sign onto Party Poker to relax and play a few games of Hold 'em only to learn that I can't even bet with the money in my account.

Will Smokefree's proposal get removed from ballot? - My research indicates that the the law being proposed by SFO was deficient in clearing the first hurdle on it's way to possible approval. Here's the timeline of events:

Sensible Ohio Smoking Ban moves forward - Last week small adult destination business across Ohio started collecting signatures for a sensible smoking ban throughout the state. This sensible legislation is modeled after the Toledo law we modified in 2004. The law will permit open smoking in taverns, nightclubs, bowling centers and private clubs. It allows restaurants to construct separately vented smoking areas for their customers who choose to smoke. We need to collect over 300,000 signatures to get this issue on November's ballot.

R. Lemon jumping to conclusions - I can't believe Russ Lemon actually wrote about the possibility of folks improperly jumping to conclusions about the guilt of Maurice Clarett. Russ has yet to be critical of the Blade's jumping to conclusions about the guilt of Tom Noe. After months of investigation there have been no formal charges, but the Blade continues its assault, based on the conclusion that he's guilty.

Smoking Ban Update - A few weeks ago a regular customer came up to me at my tavern and advised that he was at the Kroger's at Detroit and Glendale. There were people at the store entrance asking for signatures on a petition for smoke-free work places.
