I guess their desire to totally outlaw smoking isn't enough. Now they want the control of their citizens' thermostats! WTF!!

I see very bad things from this, other then the fact that you lose control of your environment. Since it's a a Radio based system, I can see this open to Hacking, and someone sitting in front of your house going paying with the temps. "Bob pissed me off, lets crack is hour to 120 degrees" sheesh.. what are they going to do next, limit the number of logs we can put in our fireplace?

It's for new homes mostly, and it's only for emergencies. I guess when they rebuild homes on sides of mountains in high wind fire prone areas, occupants will feel relieved that they can turn down the heat from remote areas when it's on fire or sliding down the hill.

It's typical to micromanage silly crap and drop the ball on macro-items like economics.

Government can only implement such ludicrous acts because the citizens continue to vote for representatives that will allow and endorse such behavior to go on. A country of media-obsessed onlookers that vote without reason is what will continue to allow such idiocy to grow.
