Sex Offender's House Location - I need information

Does anybody know the rules about where a registered [Lucas County] sex offender may and may not establish residency? I think I read that they cannot be near a park or school. Or is that only for child sex offenders? Any help is appreciated.

Not within 1000 feet of a school, pre-school or child day care if the person’s name appears on the state registry of sex offenders and child-victim offenders.

If the person was found guilty or plead guilty to a registration-exempt sexually oriented offense, this the 1000 foot rule does not apply.

An excellent site you can sign up for to be kept up to date on sex offenders in/out of your area:

Thanks corky and Graphics Guy; your information and links are helpful to my family and my neighbors as we have been informed of a sexual predator who moved in two doors down. He is across the street from both a school and a park. I'll check out those links.

Mr. Kooz- you are sick.

My August 2005 Google maps mashup of Lucas County Registered Sex Offenders is seriously outdated.

"Why? You trying to figure out where you can live you sick twisted liberal freak?"

What's your problem, Kooz? If you don't have anything worthwhile to contribute to the topic, then why can't you simply ignore the thread? Man_with_the_muck_rake asked a basic question, and you respond with bilge that makes YOU look like the sick, twisted freak.

Kooz, I know you and muck_rake have a verbally combative history in the local blogosphere, but are you incapable of keeping your political viewpoints out of a non-political thread? Are you stalking muck_rake?

I just wanted to point out that there are additional requirements for Ottawa Hills. For example, a registered sex offender can't live within 1000 feet of a bike path. I don't remember the rest of limitations. But I think they made most of the community off-limits.

Don't think the 'bike path' thing would stand up in a court of law, but then, I'm sure Ottawa Hills knows that - just like Toledo knows the red light/speed camera thing violates Constitutional & State Law.

Government is like the school bully. He'll keep whupping your ass until such time that you decide you've had enough & fight back.
