My 81yr.old widowed neighbor was just placed in a nursing home. While his family, who live out of town, is coping with all the arrangements that have to made when that happens, I get the mail and look after the now empty house. Yesterday my neighbor's wife, dead six years, got a Summons for jury duty in Lucas County. I mistakenly thought that long dead people were systematically purged from the voter roles and subsequently not among the pool of potential jurors. Short of exhumation my dearly departed neighbor won't be deliberating. What's up with Board of Elections? So many internal feuds that they can't properly administrate the public's business.

Damn they're calling dead people and I've heard of people who've been called multiple times and yet I've never once been called.
What incentive does government have to be efficient with things like that? Or anything for that matter? What's going to happen if they don't get efficient, lose customers :)
My mom got one on Friday too. She died in 2003. It has a warning on the bottom of the notice that says failure to report is a contempt of court. When they come to get her i'm giving the sheriff her new address at the cemetery. That ought to get some press!
Dead people for jurors. New meaning to the term "hung jury."
How many people actually show up for jury duty anyway? I heard of a case where like 16 showed out of 50 called. Inspiring.
Hey, live with it - She's probably democrat and still voting, hence the jury summons...
