Looking for GOOD firewood

Good being the key word there! We use our wood burner for about 75% of our heating needs and have always purchased our firewood from the same person. The last couple of rick cords we purchased have been the WORST wood we have ever burned, or attempted to burn. I was wondering if anyone else around here who uses a fireplace or wood burner could suggest someone in the area that sells good fire wood? We're currently paying $50 a rick cord and would like to stay near that amount, but are willing to pay more to someone that sells good hard burning fire wood! Thanks in advance!

Hey holly - I can't say I know that much about good or bad wood, but we use our fireplace pretty regularly and have always got our wood from Lumberjack's north of Sylvania on old 223. We put our wood in the fireplace and it burns when we light it so that is pretty much the extent of my quality test. No doubt, wood from last year buns easier and faster than wood from this year because it is less green. But other than that it is fine. They are good people too.

Pricewise, I don't know what a rick cord is - so you'd have to call them. The amount that I get is some standard measure like that but not sure what. The cost, delivered and dumped in my driveway is about twice the price you are quoting. So if I'm getting 2 rick cords it is probably comparable. Some of my price includes delivery too, which is optional.

You can have all the wood you want from my yard, although, the 16 oak trees are still standing. Is there a company, or person that takes down trees in exchange for the wood?
