How Americans Spend their money.

I like graphs. If this is obnoxiously large and someone can trim/shrink it legibly, I'd appreciate the help.
Here's the original story which is lame by the way.
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/10/opinion/10cox.html

This doesn't count capital gains where the real wealth is. Gates, Buffet, the Mexican guy who owns most of Mexico, etc. don't make that much money in income, but in capital appreciation. Also most people making paper deduct as much as their lives as possibly to business expenses...lunch, cars, strippers, mistresses, the usual fare.

Who should care how I spend MY money??? I also do write off alot of my stuff if it is actually business related. I do gas milage, lunches(if there is business being conducted),and all the other stuff I can write off. Sorry though no strippers or mistresses here though not into that type of thing.

I've been curious as to the stories that will come if/when the tax reabte checks come in and how Americans will 'really' spend that check money. I can't speak for anyone else, but in my household, the vast majority of our tax refund is going to paying off the misses credit cards...........along with us getting a TV. Everythings works better with a plan.

In hindsight, the second chart maybe more interesting. What will be the next must-have technology? Solar panels, wind turbines, surveillance equipment?

And it doesn't show what has been thrown by the wayside like books/reading, cultivating the earth, and voluntary simplicity.
