Nick Vitucci hired as city's yet-to-be-named pro hockey club

Hired as coach. Great first move. Looking forward to hockey in Toledo once again.

Vitucci is a good guy who knows his way around the ECHL... 20 years as a playr or a coach, and he was inducted into the ECHL Hall of Fame this January. Good to see that he'll stay in T-Town.

As long as the people watching is good and there's an occassional disco night and 10 cent beer, they will come. It was in a movie that I never watched all the way through.

So Toledo will still be stuck with an ECHL team, eh? You're probably better off watching local high school hockey or the CCHA play at BGSU.

Meanwhile, our good friends in Grand Rapids, Michigan continue to host an AHL team. Cleveland now hosts an AHL team called the Lake Erie Monsters. And I see Peoria now has an AHL team, and they were in the ECHL for several years.

The Toledo area has been hip on hockey for a long time, and I have never understood why Toledo does not have an AHL team, and why Toledo does not have more small ice houses to support grade school, high school, and adult hockey leagues.
