the problem with "scientific Studies" is that it's just not coincidence how often the findings of the people paid to do the study are just the results that the people funding them want to hear. Same thing with statisticians.

Or politics - like the "consensus of scientists" we always here about. As if science were up for a popular vote. The problem with a consensus is that there are social pressures to fall in line that have nothing to do with science.

I believe that there was a time when there was a "consensus of scientists" on the idea that the world was flat. Same for the sun revolving around the earth.

Talking about ideas contrary to the "consensus" brought stiff penalties justified by the state religion.

Today, if you teach something contrary to evolution in a public classroom, the state religion justifies firing then suing you. Some things never change.

if you teach something contrary to evolution in a public classroom

Only if you try to teach non-science mumbo jumbo in science class.

Babbleman sayeth: if you teach something contrary to evolution in a public classroom

There's a little problem with that, Babs: There IS no credible contrarian view to evolution. Bring something into the classroom that's backed with DATA and LOGICAL ANALYSIS, that also contravenes evolutionary theory, and you'll get the hearing you're looking for.

Granted, there are a few things rattling about, which call some of evolution's famous examples into question. That's OK and these things should NOT be evicted from classrooms as if our conclusions make them unimportant. They should be embraced, in fact, since all data sets have bad points and funny exceptions that keep science on its toes.

But beyond some questions lingering about evolutionary examples, evolution is quite solid and there's still no credible contrarian view that replaces it in any way.

To find anything like that, you have to leave science itself ... which means leaving the classroom. Classrooms are no place to considering mysticism as a real force.

So lets not talk about evolution/creation then -

GZ, Im gonna take a quote from you and tweak it a little:

'Bring something into the classroom that's backed with DATA and LOGICAL ANALYSIS...

...and you'll get the hearing you're looking for.'

There IS data and Logical Analysis on BOTH sides of the Global warming issue, but often only one side is addressed in school.
