Local media preceding the start of the play "Let's Murder Marsha" (comedy), which is scheduled for Feb 29 - Mar 15, 2008 at The Village Players Theatre :

Feb 22, 2008 Toledo Free Press : Village Players murder Marsha

“Let's Murder Marsha” tells the story of the bored wife of a Wall Street millionaire who is obsessed with murder mysteries and how through a series of comedic missteps, she steps into a mystery of her own. “This was a play that our play-reading committee came upon and it made all of the participants laugh out loud. Marsha loves to read murder mysteries and her husband wishes that she weren't quite so involved with them. Her husband and friends plan a surprise party for her, but by listening in at the wrong time, she believes they are planning to kill her. She decides to turn the tables on them,” said the Village Players Vice President of Publicity & Public Relations Pamela S. Kelso.

Playwright Monk Ferris is shrouded in almost as much mystery as his play. Monk Ferris is believed to be the pen name of writer Jack Sharkey, who started out as a copy writer for Sears, Roebuck and Co. and would go on to write short fiction, novels and a number of other plays. Sharkey, who passed away in 1992, supposedly had a name for every genre, using Ferris for comedies. “Let's Murder Marsha” was written in 1984.

Feb 28, 2008 Toledo Blade : Local productions have something for everyone

[T]he Village Players Theatre offers Monk Ferris' Let's Murder Marsha. "It's a fun little play," said director Pat Mahoney. "It's fast-paced with lots of misinterpretations. Zany would be a good word for it." The play is good for just about all ages, Mahoney said. It speeds right along and there's no foul language.

The fun begins when the title character, a murder-mystery-obsessed housewife, overhears a conversation her husband, Tobias, is having with a beautiful stranger, Persis Devore. It leads her to believe he's planning her demise. Unwilling to go quietly, Marsha recruits her housekeeper, Bianca, and neighbor, Virgil Baxter, to help turn the tables on Tobias.
