Which candidate is most capable of "taking care" of the economy for us?

When you find out, let me know so that I can be sure not to vote for them.

How about a candidate that will enforce the laws regulating securities and banking, while also refusing to drown the same industries' sorrows in credit (i.e. tax money) and bailouts (i.e. more tax money)?

If you ask me, the president does not have enough power to really change the economy, at least in a the short term. The economy is far too large to be greatly altered by one man. Damage control is the best we can hope for but if that means bailing out industrys that act irresponcibly, then they have no insentive to learn from their mistakes. His greatest power in the short run is probably cheerleading-holding the consumer confidence line. However in the long run policy making can be far more important by directing investing in the right areas, new energy, education of future generations, maintaining peace, etc. I'm probably wrong but it feels good.
