Dr. Edward Fujimoto of Castle medical Center, O'ahu, Hawaii, advises that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using plastic containers. He even has reservations about putting TV dinners in the micowave with the plastic trays that come with them.
Plastic wrap, such as Saran, Fujimoto claims, is dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As the food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to transfer into the food. Cover the food with paper instead.

I've been microwaving food in plastic for 30 years and am in great health and hardly ever get sick.
Did you know that 50 years ago there used to be tv commercials with doctors recommending cigarettes to consumers as "good for your lungs"?
