Wildwood Metropark Hybrid Warbler

May 6, 2008 posting at Toledo Naturalists Association message board :

A presumed Northern Parula x Cerulean Warbler hybrid I originally found at Wildwood Metropark on May 16, 2004 has returned for it's fifth year in a row. It's been singing since April 25 but I was unable to see the bird until today. It's appearance is the same as in previous years, bluish above with white wing bars, whitish below with a very faint hint of a necklace and streaking, and white eye arcs above and below each eye. The only song I've heard this year is the Parula-like song, unlike other years when it would also sing the Cerulean song and an alternate song. The location of the bird is also the same. Take the stairs behind the Manor House down to the boardwalk on the floodplain and listen for the bird singing from the sycamores 40- 80 yards north of the bottom of the stairs.
