Before one supports a politician, that person would do well to ask oneself does this politician have an agenda that diverges from mine?

At this point, I would have to say that Marcy Kaptur is the poster child for unintended consequences.
She talks a lot about the consequences of nafta. Does she mention how she voted on nafta?
I know how she voted on nafta and I can only draw two conclusions from that. The first would be that she believed all that bullshit that free trade would benefit Toledo. If she did, she is not smart enough to represent us in congress.
The second conclusion I can come to would be that she knew it was going to screw the toledo area, but voted for it anyway. Probably to kiss ass with the Clintons. Basically putting her political career ahead of the people she was elected to represent. If that is the case, the people of Toledo need her about as much as they do George Bush.

Rubbish. Marcy is probably one of the most humble reps in the House. She drives a 20 year old car and lives in a small house in the city of Toledo. I am sure that overtures have been made to her to run for Senate or statewide office, but she has turned them all down. We never see her on the cable news shows even though she has been in Congress for 26 years and serves on the Appropriations and Budget Committees. You can disagree with Marcy on a lot of issues (as I do), but accusing her of putting her political career ahead of the people she represents is just nonsense.
She is certainly well regarded in this area. Even after they changed the hoods that she would represent ,, in a effor to defeat her at election time,, she won. Where are all the other representatives at? Why aren't they speaking out about this??? Maybe its time to give them a call.

Now I Know I am living in an Orwellian society. Saint Marcy must have voted agianst nafta becasue I was told so. Also all those nasty comments she and Jimmy Carter made about Ross Perot should go down the memory hole too.
