Between 9:20 p.m. and 9:50 p.m., some 20 to 30 mph winds and a brief period of light rain occurred here at home in the Douglas-Sylvania area of West Toledo but that was it. When the line of storms zoomed by, the temperature dropped only eight degrees from 85 to 78. At Toledo Express Airport, the temperature dropped from 86 to 70.
The lights blinked here at home, but the power never went out. Other areas, however, not so lucky.
I listened to the local skywarn net, checked WTOL occasionally, and read the National Weather Service on the Web. They reported power outages, downed power lines, and other damage in Wauseon, Grand Rapids, Sylvania, Perrysburg Township, Rossford, Maumee, East Toledo, West Toledo, southern Wood County, Hancock County, and I think Seneca County.
A tornado was reported near Fostoria. A tornado was reported near Findlay airport. A funnel cloud was reported in Lake Township.
The line of storms moved northeast around 50 mph, but it dissipated rapidly as it moved through the area, which is why some areas of Toledo got spared. But one small, strong cell along the border of Lucas and Wood Counties moved northeast, possibly through South and East Toledo.
WTOL reported a while ago that Toledo police said numerous downed power lines exist in Toledo.
Here are a few saved looped radar images, so you can see how fast the storms passed through the area and how quickly the storms broke down.
- First loop is from 8:37 p.m. to 9:16 p.m. The sirens in Toledo sounded at 9:18 p.m. According to radar, it appears Fulton County and Henry County got hit hard.
- Second loop is from 9:11 p.m. to 9:50 p.m. You can see the small, strong cell that moved approximately along the Maumee River.
- Third loop is from 9:45 p.m. to 10:28 p.m.

Following Friday night's storm, Toledo Edison is reporting there are around 16,000 customers in the area without power. At the worst, around 20,000 customers in the black.

* Toledo area: 6,000
Van Wert has been declared a disaster area though no injuries have been reported. A group of surveyors will assess the damage this morning. Most of the damage was done in the Wauseon/Defiance area with many reports of limbs down on lines. That is where they will be concentrating most of their efforts.
Wauseon-Delta Viewers reported seeing funnel clouds. Winds were recorded greater than 50 mph.
Putnam County Two firefighters were injured in Continental when a tree fell on their fire truck. They were taken to the hospital and are expected to be ok. Much of the county is without electricity. Winds were recorded at 80 mph.
Wood County We're getting reports of damage from the Grand Rapids area ... 3 big trees across E. Foulkes Rd in Perrysburg Twp.
Lucas County Many reports of downed trees and power outages. One viewer said power is out near Westfield-Franklin Park Mall.
Law enforcement officers reported a tornado near Findlay, and weather spotters say there were several funnel clouds and touchdowns in Van Wert County.

Authorites throughout northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan reported numerous tree limbs and power lines down. Sheriff's departments throughout northwest Ohio told NBC24 that damage reports were still coming in late Friday night.

In Fulton County, winds blew off roofs about 9:15 p.m. In Lucas County's Providence Township, the roof of at least one house was split by a tree. A roof was reported off a house near U.S. 20 and Fulton County Road.
The storm weakened as it swept eastward, minutes after Lucas County's tornado sirens sounded about 9:17 p.m., the National Weather Service said.
A Toledo police officer was struck by flying debris on Judge Drive in South Toledo about 9:33 p.m., according to a report over a police scanner.
The storm damaged transformers near Talmadge Road and Sylvania Avenue. Westfield Franklin Park went dark about 9:45 p.m., as did parts of Northwood and Perrysburg.From my microblog

Numberous large limbs down
Storm Prediction Center shows a slight risk of severe thunderstorms for the Toledo area today, June 9.
At 1:40 p.m., the SPC issued a severe thunderstorm watch until 8:00 p.m. The watch area includes southeast Michigan, northwest Ohio, and a large portion of Indiana. It includes the Toledo area.
Radar loop from 1:50 p.m. to 2:40 p.m. shows a line of heavy storms rapidly forming from southwest Ontario, to central Indiana, and southern Illinois, except a gap exists west of Toledo. This line of storms began forming after 1:00 p.m. Need to watch to see if this line fuses in northeast Indiana or extreme northwest Ohio.
