Nancy Pelosi sells out, now supports granting corporations immunity for past violations of the law.

http://whitehouser.com/policy/domestic/nancy-pelosi-sells-out/

This morning, I listened on C-span as Rep. Pelosi (D-California) betrayed Americans and sold out her nation.

House Speaker Pelosi joined partisan Republican nationalists in supporting a bill that will grant immunity to corporations that violated the law by implementing mass wireless surveillance on Americans without a warrant. This is the same woman that said “impeachment is off the table,” so it is not surprising that she would kneel before the President, while acquiescing to his demand for immunity.

The glaringly unconstitutional piece of legislation essentially grants immunity to any corporations that “acted patriotically” in the best interest of our country. What the statute provides for is a means to acknowledge violations of the constitution but removes judiciary authority to determine legality of actions taken by corporations. In other words, the legislature is crippling the courts and dictating on the matter of immunity. It is unbelievable the extent to which Republicans have gone to insist on immunity for corporations that violated the law.

Pelosi’s speech sounded like it was prepared by a Bush speech writer, she glossed over the faults and focused on the need to protect Americans from terrorists. She spewed rhetoric about how we must support the troops and all that jazz, the usual commentary that comes when defending arguments that have no merit. For months, I’ve read the many criticisms of Nancy Pelosi and I have to say that I now agree with the assessment that she is an unprincipled weak leader. She is a terrible embarrassment to California and should be voted out of office.

The bill passed 293-129 and is expected to be passed in the Senate next week. This is a very sad day for libertarians and liberals alike. But hey, at least President Bush is delighted with the results.

The plastic surgery has tightened her face so taught it has smashed her brain. On the other hand, after the landslide in November, they will steamroll the criminals into prison perhaps. I hope so.

Pelosi ALWAYS was a sellout for money. Check her history.

I laugh and laugh at the "Democratic" Congress that the Dems thought they installed in 2006. How's that workin' out for ya, Dems? You're still too scared of Bush. Heck, you still can't admit your Dem leaders are Republicans in everything but name. The Dems just handed the BushCheney War Machine another $169 billion. Yeah, THAT'll show them how wrong the wars are.

The weirdest thing here is how the Dems now expect me to vote for that elitist shit Obama. Sorry, I'm voting for a real fiscal conservative who believes in the supremacy of Constitutional law. That means Ron Paul as a write-in. That means another vote not earned by the Dems, but could have been ... if they had actually been Democratic instead of Republican Lite.

Actually, GZ, from Strickland to the top, the DEMs are waiting for a supermajority in the senate, so the republicans can't stop everything the house is trying to do. When that happens, Pelosi and all of the dems will change strategy, perhaps one that gives humanity priority over corporate treason.

Prime, the President can't veto a bill if it doesn't pass in the first place. I don't buy the idea that a Congress has no effect unless it has a supermajority. The Dems are still letting Republican warshit pass and that makes them Republicans in all but name. Why should I vote for a Dem, again?

I think its purely poitical, to stahl the ineveitable republican mantra which chants that democrats won't protect the nation. This as our borders are open for for Mexican and South American cheap labor,, and anyone else who wants to attack us. And all the other faults of this administration on homeland security that are too numerous to list.

It will have to be the dems that we vote for or else we'll have lost what is probably our last chance to still pull our democracy out of the jaws of a corporate run fascist state. A monstrous an evil thing it is, but the corporations and church now know exactly how much money they have to spend on politicians to literally own our country,, to force the kool aide down all our throats.

It's our last chance, and even if we elect a Obama and some democratic legislators sufficient for a supermajority, it will still be a fight to remove corporations and the church from power.

Its amusing to watch the church idiots sucking that juice down, preaching the end of time and Jesus's return to reign over the paltry 144,000 that they predict will be left on earth. But equally amusing is the military industrial complex, happily grinning as the provide the weapons to make it happen,, and the oil companies, gleefully reaping the rewards of mideast turmoil and their own price fixing. These are the monsters that need to be toppled from power, all three groups, and it will be a fight. Not as big a fight under democrats, but it will be a fight that I hope the country is aware of and capable of winning.

Remind me again how the biracial man, abandoned by his father, brought up by a single mother, pulled himself up by his bootstraps to get to the Ivy League, turns down Wall Street and white shoe law firms to work on the South Side of Chicago can be tarred with the label of "elitist"?

Ron Paul may be a fiscal conservative and I admire his stance on Iraq, but he is a nut. Ever heard of the Ron Paul Political Report? He disavows it now, but it spouted gems like "only about 5% of blacks have sensible political opinions" and the only reason order was restored after the LA riots was because "the blacks had to pick up their welfare checks." How charming.

According to the couple’s 2006 income tax return, Michelle's salary was $273,618 from the University of Chicago Hospitals, while he had a salary of $157,082 from the United States Senate. The total Obama income, however, was $991,296 including $51,200 she earned as a member of the board of directors of TreeHouse Foods, plus investments and royalties from his books.29

The wiki speaks for itself. The Obamas are the elite.

And when I say "elite", I just don't mean "high income". I mean "so removed from the plight of the common man that they should be shunned by that same common man". I'll start believing the Big O's not the elite when he'll condescend to drive a fuel-efficient car like the rest of us will have to. The same applies to Gore. And McCain. And George W. Bush was never welcome in my house, I can tell you.

As for Ron Paul, if you want to hang him for some personal quirks, let's pull out the laundry list of personal quirks possessed by Obama. Ron Paul is a staunch Constitutionalist and that's what has unerringly guided his Congressional actions. Let's ask fucking Obama about the Second Amendment, and compare.

I'd hire Ron Paul to do the job of President. He's got the right professional mindset for it. As for his personal quirks, as long as he keeps those away from work, then those are his business. (Note that that's critically different than bending an intern over a desk in the White House ... or lying in a deposition, etc.)

And sorry, Prime, but Obama's handlers and donors are the same long list of corporations that purport to own our economy, and as such, our political foundation, and even further as such, our liberty. Do you think that Obama is going to "save those in foreclosure"? Paying for an Oil War for rich men is breaking this nation like a dried stick. Paying over $1 trillion to bail out gamblers in the investment banks will take those stick pieces and burn them beyond recognition.

So why would I vote for a Dem, again? He's going to try to invoke "social issue" spending on top of rightwingnut war spending that will destroy what we've got left as a nation. The Repub will just continue attacking aggressive and WMD-desiring Middle Eastern nations (note: somehow skipping Israel, which HAS nuclear weapons!) that will achieve the same result. The results will quite simply be the same. So why am I expected to somehow contribute to it? I'm not responsible. ALL OF YOU PARTISANS ARE.

Once again, in 2008, the Dem leadership and regulars have FAILED to connect to my social liberalism and fiscal conservatism. Gore, then Kerry, then Obama ... a solid pedigree of elites who don't represent any of my philosophies whatsoever. And you know what's even crazier? They don't represent the Democratic Platform either. They only represent their extremely wealthy corporate donors, and that has always been the case since the 1970s when corporations figured out that it was possible (as well as cost-effective) to own the nation's political structure and lock out the masses.

And how many times do I have to hear this bullshit?:

« Ron Paul may be a fiscal conservative and I admire his stance on Iraq, but he is a nut. »

Yeah, Perot was a "nut". Nader was a "nut". The Green Party is full of "nuts". The Libertarians are "nuts". Ron Paul is a "nut". What ... for not joining up with the corrupt majors?

That makes the nuts EXACTLY the kind of people who need to be handed direct Presidential authority. The Congress may fight them tooth and nail, but we've had a good 6 years of recent memory to understand how terrible it is to have the Presidency and Congress in synchrony. The branches of government are SUPPOSED to oppose each other. I WANT them to oppose each other. In fact, I WANT them to be in such opposition, they can't even operate the government ... so that 50% of federal jobs and programs evaporate as true largess that should have never existed in the first place. Look at the 2007 federal budget. The line item "costs of running the government" was $90 billion. So what was the rest of the $2300 BILLION for?!?! For mis-spending! For running a military that is 10 times too large just for defending the nation! For bribing people to vote Dem or Repub! IT'S SICK AND WE ARE HEADING FOR CIVIL COLLAPSE AS A RESULT.

If you want to call an obsession with conspiracy theories, sympathy for right-wing militias and deeply held bigotry "personal quirks," that's your prerogative....

How in the hell is Obama, noting his money is just as self-made as Paul's, any more elitist? Give me a break.

Ace, if President Paul had been in charge of the federal response to Katrina, you'd have found out exactly who has the real, functional "deeply held bigotry" in comparison. Bush does, since his fiscal policies end up with direct racial consequences. At least Paul's fiscal policies would affect the races equally.

Do you even understand your assumptions, here? You're only demonizing Paul since he's a threat to the majority rule of complacency and corruption. His quirks are far less damaging to the job than the quirks of somebody like Clinton or Bush ... yet since Clinton and Bush have quirks expressed in ways that the public accepts, they're given a pass. It doesn't make any sense.

And, Jhost, the manner in which Obama conducts his politics well demonstrates his elitism. He wants more government, not less. His level of income is generated from agencies that serve the elites. Why won't you Dems finally admit that your candidate is nowhere near your own class? Oh yeah, that's right, because that would leave you with NO DEM CANDIDATE to vote for ... well, none except a "nut" like Nader, who has been living the Democratic Platform for his entire life.

I say again: Where's a real social liberal and fiscal conservative that I can vote for? Ron Paul, Ralph Nader, and overall the Libertarian Platform are the representatives and philosophies that I see as options. Obama isn't it. Clinton wasn't it. Kucinich was closer to it, but your party long since assassinated his chances. (Again, Kucinich is often described as a "nut".)

The candidate must have socially-liberal and fiscally-conservative views since that's the proper form of government in these United States. The state is permissive and limited. In fact, being limited ensures that the state is permissive.

When your man Obama loses to McCain due to the drumbeats of war and fears about stock portfolios, I'm going to laugh myself sick on this forum, day after day, much to your annoyance. Why not? I've had enough practice at it after the last two Prez elections, in which each time some elitist piece of shit was put forth as a "man of the people" and somehow an adherent of Democratic Principles.

If President Paul was in place, federal programs like FEMA would be eviscerated and Louisiana would have been left to deal with it on their own. Call me a commie pinko, but I think the federal government has an obligation to US citizens beyond just keeping them safe from invasion.

I think it's time to shut all these goddamed corporations DOWN! GM, GE, Big Oil--all of them, that'll show 'em.

Well, GZ, you beat me to it again. I was going to post about the obvious faults of Obama Rama Ding Dong and the Moonbats, then contrast him with McCain Unable of the Stupid Party. But no, you had to go and sound off as usual.

The worst part about your contribution is that people like Prime are as devoted as ever to the madness of their choosing. Run lemmings run.

Jhost, take a hard, objective look at the man. Swear Obama in and he'll start behaving like a pre-revolutionary French noble. Which, now that I think about it, would likely get him impeached.

"MADJACK,GZ, I think you've both made some excellent points, and I believe you'd most likely find Pelosi walking home for her nearest interstate rest area with a "huge"bag of quarters from selling her ass to the highest bidder, bidders"?

However biggest concern is "
when should we set a date for a "Raffle time and date" for "WHEN ISREAL IS GOING TO NUKE IRAN" and put all our ass's on the plains of "MEGIDDO" FOR the final war?

I've got $20.00 on "it'll be close to 2 years if not sooner" most likely just before election time"!

Did Bush visit his buddies in Isreal during his last trip a few weeks ago?

REMEMER, his asking for the creation of "Tatical Nukes" a year or so ago?

I get a "REALLY BAD" feeling about what Isreal is up to, ANYONE ELSE FEEL IT??

The Jews and the Arabs could nuke the fuck out of each other in the Megiddo valley, and the next day I'd still be here. Maybe the lights wouldn't work since FirstEnergy decided to obey some FEMA directive to turn off power to all except hospitals and government buildings ... but I'd still be here. With a lamp. And some candles. And a car. AND SEVERAL HANDGUNS AND A BATTLE RIFLE. Will it be Armageddon for me? No. Will the radioactive clouds of shit falling over Russia fall on me? Only after a long time, which will just increase the background rad count slightly.

So, really, this final war crapola can't be too taxing as long as it doesn't empty the silos of the USA and the CIS.
