Shop Local- The Andersons

I recently purchased a house and have been doing ton's of improvements (it's a forclosure) and I have been shopping for home improvement supplies. I've noticed that The Andersons has had better pricing on many of the things for home improvment, not all things, but a lot and it has saved me ton's of money. I bought a bunch of paint Saturday and it was on Sale and had rebates and came to a great price. Not too mention that Andersons is a local company, so I try to support them anyways. They have the best selection of plants in Town...

What's everyone's opinion on this?

Love the Andersons!! I shop there at least weekly for something. Great prices on paint, plants & fruits & veggies. Not to mention the House of Meats! If you haven't tried the bacon wrapped pork medallions from the House of Meats you have to run out and get them! Yum!! I live right next door to the Anderson's in Northwood so they are so convenient for my last minute needs of nuts, bolts, etc. Great store that I hope stays around forever!

During the Ford Administration, the city was forced to stop patronizing the andersons in favor of out of town suppliers because anderson's employee mix wasnt of the proper ratio. Anybody know if that's changed and our tax monies are being spent locally again?

Where else can you get a prime rib roast and a fence post? I love the place.

If you are a collector or connoisseur of hard to find conifers, the garden center is top tier.

Instead of painting the bathroom 'Crabgrass Indian Tipi Blue Agave' you could save bunches of money and instead paint it 'Homesick Canary Candlestick Ivory' by watching for the 'mis-tints' - paint that an original buyer said didn't match what they wanted.

(And where do they get the names for some of these colors? Are these people on acid? What's wrong with 'Cummins Diesel Orange', 'Ford Engine Blue' or even 'Exorcist Pea Green'? MUCH more descriptive!)

ALWYS shop locally when financially feasible to do so!!!

The Anderson's is one of Toledo's great institutions for a combination of Value, Service, Quality and product availability! They run honest an honest business and are an asset to our community.

I live near the Andersons Market in Sylvania, and buy all of my produce and meats there. (Along with a mix of some other items.)

Their customer service is top notch, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone.

The meats at Anderson's are from Lee Williams, so if you have a closer Lee Williams your still shopping locally, thankfully there is one in Point Place and I don't have to drive across town to Monroe street or Woodville mall. But I do like the rest of the store, problem is we have home despot, lowe'r (sheeple) and Manard's (maynards) all togother over here on Alexis. Only a matter of time they will go the way of the other home improvement stores that used to be there. Home Base, Carter, Handy Andy, Builder's Square.

My favorite home improvement/hardware national chain was Handy Andy. Those people would go out of their way to help you with something. I really hated to see them go. Home Depot is close. I still use Anderson's most of the time, though-but with gas costing what it does-Home Depot is right around the corner from me.

Anderson's is nice for produce. House of Meats sells the worst quality meat I have ever tasted. Walt Churchill's can't be beat when it comes to meat. Bassett's in Perrysburg can't be beat in seafood and imported cheeses. Walt has a great selection of out-of-the-ordinary grocery items.
Many great local stores when it comes to groceries.

Not crazy about the Andersons. The Maumee store is looking very dated and customer service at all these joints depends on the individual waiting on you. The chains r usually better price-wise. The Andersons lawn mower shop in Maumee is consistently way over-priced.
