That video was from a town hall meeting in December 2007, but it's nothing new for McCain. From a year earlier in December 2006 :
Now he has introduced legislation [pdf] that would treat blogs like Internet service providers and hold them responsible for all activity in the comments sections and user profiles. Some highlights of the legislation :
- Commercial websites and personal blogs "would be required to report illegal images or videos posted by their users or pay fines of up to $300,000."
- Internet service providers (ISPs) are already required to issue such reports, but under McCain's legislation, bloggers with comment sections may face "even stiffer penalties" than ISPs.- Social networking sites will be forced to take "effective measures" - such as deleting user profiles - to remove any website that is "associated" with a sex offender. Sites may include not only Facebook and MySpace, but also Amazon.com, which permits author profiles and personal lists, and blogs like DailyKos, which allows users to sign up for personal diaries.
McNut and O'Reilly share a common interest.
The liberty to speak seems to bother Mr John "Keating Five" McCain. Why would that be? A Conservative is supposed to value such things.
I occasionally watch O'Reilly to get my blood pressure up and you will notice that, for as often as he attacks sites like Daily Kos, he never shows what exactly was posted on these sites. He just calls them "far left smear sites" without providing any examples.
As far as McCain goes, he doesn't even know how to use a computer, so it is it any wonder he doesn't like blogs?
He was a lightweight boxer.
As for a vote of incompetence....
I would just assume have a constitutional convention and a massive jubilee movement.
That's dirty pool, Char. I'm sure you can find sleepy folks at Obama meetings, too.
I think that guy to the right pissed himself, unless he's wearing 2 tone toughskins.
But Barry is more charismatically boring and I think he'll start uprooting his grass roots following pretty quick here.
As long as the Clintons are out of the picture, I really don't give a shit who wins. We're screwed either way, just not as bad as we would have been with them for eight more years. It wouldn't surprise me if they tried again in 2012, though.
