Review/opinion: PISTOL WHIPPED

OK, it's a Steven Segal movie. So you know it isn't Shakespeare going in. I mean, this is a guy who can beat up 10 guys while wearing a white tuxedo and never get a stain on it. Still, for some reason, the big lug seems to work well with kids in his movies, here it's one playing his Daughter. Plus, he got in decent shape for this one. Most of Segal's movies have a muddled plot, and this one's no exception. He's a cop that's been kicked off the force, has his house up for sale, and is too drunk half the time to see his kid when he's supposed to. He's got a bad gambling habit, and loses a bundle, but unable to pay. A mysterious man (Lance Henrickson, one of my favorite actors, in a minor cameo) tells him if he takes out some scumbags that are 'beyond the law' , he'll have his debt taken care of, and then some. After that, things get somewhat confusing, but it does have its moments, especially some decent action scenes, including a wild final shootout in a graveyard. If you're inclined to watch Segal at all, worth one watch, then swiftly forgotten(between 4-5 out of ten). If you like this sort of mayhem, I'd strongly suggest you rent EXIT WOUNDS, which was probably his best all-around movie(my ranking on that one was 8 out of ten). He gets a lot of help in that one from Tom Arnold and some good character actors.

Some people like the guy. I've only found about three-four of them anywhere near 'good'. If you don't like it, post your own reviews. I watched it for free.

I liked the one where he was a chef on a train that was hijacked and the one where he was fighting some guys in an Alaskan oil refinery. Though I was an early teen when I saw those might not have the same punch as back then.

I know the ones you're referring to , but EXIT WOUNDS is about his best picture, everybody trust me on that. Although his first one, ABOVE THE LAW isn't too bad, but I preferred the humorous touches in WOUNDS.

Do you agree with me on ABOVE THE LAW and EXIT WOUNDS being his best? I personally didn't care for those UNDER SEIGE movies, but most raved about them.
