"NBC24's retransmission agreement with Buckeye Cable, owned by Block Communications Incorporated, is set to expire on July 31. We are currently in negotiations with Buckeye and we are hopeful that we can reach a new agreement before the deadline.
We do not want to see NBC24 news and entertainment programs removed from the Buckeye system. However, federal law allows local TV stations to negotiate with cable TV companies for compensation to permission to retransmit their signal through subscriber-based services."
