So he attends a "green" event and leaves the motor running in his SUV. Way to support the environment and to waste my money on his gas tank.
Recapping:
- Mayor Czarty allegedly leaves his vehicle running for 45 minutes while attending a green living program at the Erie Street Taxpayer Sinkhole
- The green living program was titled "It Is Easy Being Green."
- Earlier this year the mayor cracked down on city employees idling their cars, but apparently, this new rule from the mayor does not apply to the mayor.
- Mayor allegedly leaves his dog in the vehicle for 45 minutes.
- Carty got in trouble twice last summer for doing something similar.
- But this time since the vehicle was running and the air conditioner was on, it's apparently OK to leave a critter alone in a vehicle for an extended period of time.
- Mayor allegedly parked illegally. Not sure how.
- But according to the mayor's office, the mayor has a Do-Whatever-He-Feels-Like card, so the parking was legit.
- The WTOL story about all of this originally had a post date of July 20, 2008, although I believe this incident occurred on August 2, 2008.
- WTOL contains the entire official statement from the mayor's office about the incident, and the statement contains at least two misspellings, including "Toledo Poleve Department."
It's the misdemeanor sleight of hand.
Royalty like clown prince.
I think he was only elected for his entertainment value.
You missed a couple type-o's
Mayor Finkbeiner's was legally parked
Mayor Finkbeiner's "what" was legally parked?
Tbe Mayor had five public events
TBE Mayor??
How much do we pay this woman (and yes, WE pay her, not the mayor ) to be a spokesperson who can't put together an 8 sentence press release with out one grammatical error for every two sentences?
And yeah, I'll be the first to admit that I 'aint the best grammatificator either, but then again, that's not what I get paid to do either!
Someone needs to figure out what spellcheck is.
Why does he need to bring his dog around with him all the time? And what is the point of bringing your dog so it can stay in the car? Can't he leave it at home for once?
Is this a joke?
I assume this issue occurred on Saturday, August 2, 2008. The WTOL story a while ago contained the following date and time stamps, which you can see in this screen capture :
Posted July 20, 2008???
A few minutes later, the WTOL story was fixed, and the July 20 post date was removed.
And supposedly, WTOL has the official statement from the mayor's office. No date and time stamp on this WTOL posting, but the statement says :
Mayor Finkbeiner's was legally parked. The Toledo Poleve Department provides this Mayor, and every Mayor with a parking pass that allows them to park where they wish. It was clearly visible in the left corner of the vehicle's windshield.
Scout was in the car, with the air conditioning on, as recommended by many dog lover's and the Toledo Humane Society. He was cool and safe. Scout travels in air conditioned comfort with the Mayor all summer long.
Between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. Tbe Mayor had five public events to attend including two events at the Erie Street Market. With each appointment he had to be in and out in a hurry.
In closing, the Mayor was legally parked with hid pass displayed and Scout was comfortable in the air conditioned vehicle, while the Mayor was able to attend to hid events.
- Elizabeth Phillips, Mayor Finkbeiner's spokespersonWhat is a Poleve Department? Were those misspellings created by the mayor's spokesperson or by WTOL during translation to the Web? Either way, it adds character to the story.
If this is legit, I like this part : "... provides this Mayor, and every Mayor with a parking pass that allows them to park where they wish."
Yes, because a mayor is royalty, and the basic laws of the land and the guidelines for plain ol' decency do not apply to such people.
Funny. The mayor attends a green living event and leaves his vehicle running for 45 minutes.
