Are you people expecting a parade or circus or "great rush" of TRAFFIC"?? If not why the hell dones your "1" traffic light have to be on 24/7? its ridiclous to have to set for a 2 minute light at 1200 to 0500 am when there's no damed traffic...!

I know the main drag in Portage is Rt 25 north and south, but is that light on the intersection of two state routes by chance?

That'd earn em a traffic light

There is a minimum traffic count to qualify for a traffic light for ODOT to put one up. Otherwise the community benefiting pays the freight. Billy is right about State Rts earning a light, but in some very rural areas it only earns a blinking light.

I have a friend who lives on the main drag, that light is horribly long.

Ah, but however small it may be, Im going to guess the intersection of two state routes (if that's the case) 'within a municipality' might be the kicker.

Something they did do outside Pemberville for a time, at the intersection of SR 105 and 199 was have a pressure sensor under the road.

It's been so long since I lived there I cant really remember the particulars, but I believe the light was pretty much always green on the more heavily trafficked of the two roads, but when someone from the lesser traveled road pulled up to the light, the weight of the car would trigger something under the road, and the light would change for them pretty much right away.

BTW, is the Portage quarry still as big a draw for the young'uns as it was when I went to BGSU back in the late 70s-early 80's?

Lawd! the times I had there!!

They have this new fandangled thing called an interstate. There's one called 75 for your vertical travels and then they have this US6 thingy which is the second longest highway in the US highway behind 20.

Sweat the small stuff. It's in the Bible.

The Portage Quarry is still alive and well. I haven't been there this year, but last summer it was one huge party. God that place is great for college age women in bikini's.

THE LIGHT IS A "TRAP" for over loaded trucks and it is way too long you can shut off your engine and save gas waiting for it."And it "does not" stay green for north and south bound traffic."!In Monroeville has state rt 99 & 547 and it flash's all the time.! So WTF??
