Flower Hospital Cafeteria Area

I have been spending a lot of time at the hospital the past couple days because my boyfriend had to have his appendix taken out. What I am blogging about is the fact that the only place to eat there is Subway. The cafeteria food just doesn’t look appetizing. My concern is first of all of the past four times I have ordered subway each time I have had to deal with a young girl with a bad attitude. I didn’t know if anyone else has experienced this? I thought the first time we got Subway the one girl was just having a bad day. It seems that it’s mandatory to have a nasty attitude to work there.
After getting my sandwich we went to sit down and all four times there were little knats flying around in the hospital cafeteria!

Wow, that's a bummer. When my wife was giving birth there 4 years ago, the Cafeteria was pretty damn good by hospital food standards. In fact, we were kind of bummed that our insurance no longer pays for Flower.

Maybe the hospital has fallen on hard times? Cutting back a little too far?

Maybe it is a prerequisite of Subway to be a biatch. I stopped going to the one by my house in Point Place because every time I went in I got waited on by a miserable hag of a girl. It’s not my imagination either because I mentioned it to a neighbor and they said “Me too!” LOL! I recently went back and luckily some guy waited on me.

THE best subway is the one downtown...and my favorite one by where I live...Lambertville...the one off Secor before Sterns. Freshest bread, best veggies! MM

I hate when you go to a subway and the bread is like a day old and hard and disgusting. Clearly their motto is "Eat Fresh"!

I remember when I first became aware of Subway in 1989 or 90 - it was awesome. The whole fresh-made thing with an otherwise fast-food consistency was completely unique.

But 20 years later not only am I bored with Subway but its not very unique anymore either. Quizno's and Chipotle have largely replaced Subway for me.

Damn you, babbleman. I've been craving Chipotle all week, and was trying to be good! YOU'RE NOT HELPING!

Best advice for meals in a hospital? Brown bag it.

I like St V's Heart center as a patient for hospital food. I was there for 2 heart attacks recently and the new hospital was like staying in a 4 star hotel. Instead of checking off the food you wanted each meal and sending the paper back to the kitchen. You actually had a menu and called in your order and they brought it to you in 15-20 minutes. Fresh and hot. It was a good experience.

As for the gnats flying around and the bad attitudes I would complain. One time I was visiting at MCO and took the kids to eat in the cafeteria. We saw a mouse scurrying from the dinning area in to the food area. I immediately let the manager know and called the health department.

Job security. Crappy food equals crappy health. Ask Joe. He know.
