Big Oil's Land Grab

Did you know that oil companies are already sitting on 68 million acres of leases that they aren't even drilling? Which kind of makes you wonder: Why are Big Oil and its allies suddenly desperate to get their hands on the last few places that are still protected -- our natural treasures, wildlife refuges, and pristine coastlines? They wouldn't use the concerns caused by high gas prices as an excuse to grab it ALL, would they?

Big Oil and its allies would like you to think that more drilling will ease your pain at the pump, but that's not the truth.

The bottom line is this: More oil drilling will not lower gas prices or create energy independence - it will only make the world's richest oil companies richer.

Check out the map showing how much of our country Big Oil already has.

Average Americans are being squeezed by high energy prices, and the oil companies are taking advantage to push their long-term drilling agenda. They have been spreading a map full of lies though the Internet.

In the oil futures market, leverage allows that only a $3 billion dollar speculative play effectively controls the price of oil. Its being done in overseas funds that are not regulated by the U.S. govt. However there is no reason to rule out American multinational oil companies are doing the trading, or perhaps any number of multibillionaires, or even a small oil producing country could do it.

Drilling is a no win game. Our only Real "strategic oil reserves" are the ones we leave in the ground and don't empty of their oil.

LOLLL,, hate the rich,, have several rich friends, they are democrats and independents, and they are really pissed about big oil screwing the country. Why aren't you?
Every new drop you drill out of the ground is sold at a price that is determined by a fixed market provided by the international oil cartels, and offshore proxies of same.

You have a good idea, quit drilling, you'd see the electric car come back very quickly.

WAAA WAAAAAAAAAAAAA , I hate reason and logic and truth and only parrot what the right-wing-nut republican party says. Aren't you missing NASCAR? Your party is dipped in oil every day. Mcsame never met a lobbyist whose oil money he didn't like. What you really hate is reason isn't it? What would jesus say bubba about the way your party treats humans, and has torn American apart? Never seen a party that ran on pure fear and hate, Nixon, Reagan, Bush 1, Bush 2. All hate mongers turning one American against the other. Shame!

We asked Native Americans to farm the un-farmable land of the reservations and pointed to the acreage totals we gave them as justification for why they starved- see how that worked.

You now want energy companies to drill where there is no oil, and point to the acreage they are "waisting" as a reason not to let them explore where we KNOW THERE IS OIL.

Brilliant.
